2 bombs went off at Boston's Copley Square at the finish line of a marathon race today about an hour ago.

2 Dead
28 Injured so far.

2 more devices were found, they are being disarmed as I write this.

My prayers go out to the people and families affected. :(

Crazy, just crazy. I live in Portland OR and was at the tree lighting ceremony where the last big attempted bombing happened. Before I got back to the dorms I walked past the Mayors office and there are 6-7 homeland security vehicles and a bomb disposal team fanning out from the building. Just a precaution but wow, just wow.

Yeah, Rei, you're definitely overestimating it. A nuclear explosion could "only" take out about half of Boston through its direct area of effect. (Other areas would be affected, but only as a byproduct of the radiation.) A gas tanker wouldn't have this extended AoE, and I think it's safe to assume that the direct explosion would be significantly smaller than a nuclear one. The majority of Boston would be safe, and nearby cities wouldn't feel a thing.

So if someone you love dies tragically and people decide to disrespect their funeral by protesting outside as your friends and family walk in that is completely ok because it's their freedom of speech? Look I get the freedom of speech law but you can not say people do not use that to abuse that.

You are right. If one of my friends or family member died, I would be upset if i saw someone say bad things about them in the way WBC does. Keep your thoughts positive and focus your attention to the stories of heroism and selfless sacrifice that are coming out from first responders. We truly live in a blessed country.

agreed. In one of the videos that shows the first bomb going off, you immediatly see 3 or 4 Army Soldires (chances are home after their last deployment) immediatly at the blast zone throwing baracades to the sides to make room for paramedics to get there to help.

That is what true Heros are. People who risk their lives for others or to help others in any dangerous way possible.

BTW, glad to hear our FC Boston resident members are okay, wish to hear that anyone you know is safe as well. Boston will still be in my prayers tonight and for several nights to come.
