(Post a quote. Tell why you find it relevant to your life or life in general)

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs (Even though checkered by failure), than to rank with those poor souls that neither enjoy nor suffer much; because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory or defeat" -Theodore Roosevelt.

Nothing is gained from sitting back. Another quote called "Fortune favors the brave" is also extremely relevant to this. What if man had not taken that first step in the journey to the new world, to the west, to the far corners of the world, and into the last frontier of space. It is the men and women willing to risk stability for something greater that change the world. There are people that work the fields, support the infrastructure, punch in the time card for work every day; and that is well and good because it makes life secure for the human race. However, I wish to be the man that takes that first step into the unkown, that saves lives, and changes the world.

:) This isn't a thread about just discussing this, but you can mention it. Id like some other good quotes as well from people around the forum and how they are relevant to life in general.

"There's a snake in my boot." -Woody

Because there's a freakin' snake in my boot. There's another quote that's relevant to this, "Somebody poisoned the waterhole." because someone poisoned the goddamned waterhole. Also, "Reach for the sky." because sometimes, you just gotta reach for the sky when you're being held at gun point.

"RUN FORREST RUN!"
I feel like this one is self explanatory, my name if Forest and it's funny as hell when someone yells it to me.

Also "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get." If you think about it this one is true and actually does have a lot of meaning behind it. It's just hidden behind a clever movie and thus it isnt too often taken seriously.

Also one more that has a lot of meaning to me is "Halfway is nowhere." Most people don't think of this one as very motivational, but to me it is. If you're in the middle of a difficult challenge or task and you finish half of it, well you're only halfway done and it doesn't give you an excuse to relax. You give whatever you're doing 100% until you finish it.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising everytime we fall.
-Confucius

This quote is just so simple yet so true. Getting back up after being knocked down determines who you are and how strong your heart is. This quote should be a guideline for some people/squads in FC. It doesn't matter how many times someone falls, it only matters if they get back up.

There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting. -Buddha

This quote ties in with the previous one. We're humans, we make mistakes. If humanity never made a mistake, then we wouldn't be where we are today. If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. Mistakes are the stepping stones that guide us to better knowledge. Mistakes = Experience.

You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.

I have it engraved on the back of my iPod and I like it because its a reminder that the only thing stopping us from doing anything is ourselves. As human beings in a first world country we'd have practically limitless potential if we didn't hold ourselves back with all the "what-ifs" of life.

I've got a ton of small speeches I could post but I'd feel like I'm taking up too much thread room haha
But I really like alot of the quotes already posted. It's nice to look past words and find a deeper meaning to connect to.

All the Red guys will appreciate this one. Especially the old Hellhounds:

I look around this room, and Good Lord I see a great group of guys. I mean I wouldn't want to go up against any of you." PanicPhan

And another one that is someones senior quote from my school:

"A day not spent wasted is a wasted day"

In the Roman civil war, Julius Caesar knew he had to march on Rome, which no legion was permitted to do. Marcus Lucanus left us a chronicle of what happened. "How swiftly Caesar had surmounted the mighty alps and in his mind conceived immense upheavals, coming war. When he reached the water of the little Rubicon, clearly to the leader through the murky night appeared a mighty image of his country in distress, grief in her face, her white hair streaming from her tower-crowned head, with tresses torn and shoulders bare, she stood before him and sighing said, "Where further do you march? Where do you take my standards warriors? If lawfully you come, if as citizens, this far only is allowed." Then trembling struck the leader's limbs, his hair grew stiff and weakness checked his progress, holding his feet at the rivers edge. At last he speaks, "Oh Thunderer, surveying Rome's walls from the Tarpeian Rock. Oh Phrygian house gods of Iulus, Clan and Mystery of Quirinus who was carried off to heaven, Oh Jupiter of Latium seated in lofty Alda and Hearths of Vesta, Oh Rome, equal to the highest deity, favor my plans! Not with impious weapons do I pursue you. Here am I, Caesar, conqueror of land and sea, your own soldier, everywhere, now too, if I am permitted. The man who makes me your enemy, it is he who be the guilty one." Then he broke the barriers of war and through the swollen river swiftly took his standards. And Caesar crossed the flood and reached the opposite bank. From Hesperia's Forbidden Fields he took his stand and said, "Here I abandoned peace and desecrated law; fortune it is you I follow. Farewell to treaties. From now on war is our judge!" Hail Caesar! We who are about to die salute you!

I have two...

Against stupidity the very gods themselves contend in vain.

-Friedrich Schiller

A harsh truth. If someone is unwilling to learn or consider possibilities, there is nothing you can do to help them.

Minimum force, applied at a cusp moment at the historical fulcrum, paves the path to a distant vision. Pursue only those immediate goals which serve the longest perspectives.

-Isaac Asimov
If you are given an opportunity, immediately and without hesitation take the course that will work out in the long term instead of only considering the short term.

I focused my entire graduation speech (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKXd-gkWd-Q) around this quote.
