I have been hearing murmurs and I am going to pose this topic.
Questions that need to be answered:
*Why do we do our own map layouts/gametypes?
*What makes our map layout/gametypes valid?
*Don't the people getting paid money to design and make map layouts/game types have a 1up on a ragtag website team?

Why do we do our own map layouts/gametypes?
Tradition: Starting with H2, RvBR and FC has always maintained that they will use their own gametypes for the wars. This is to find a sense of balance to the maps and to give us our own flavor and spin on the games, and to differentiate ourselves from matchmaking.
What makes our map layout/gametypes valid?
What makes them invalid? This is a very ambiguous question and really is quite loaded, since it implies that they are invalid in the first place.
Don't the people getting paid money to design and make map layouts/game types have a 1up on a ragtag website team?
You know, not always. And while you might consider this website's administration "ragtag" I think nearly a decade of Halo experience in a competitive setting and environment has given quite the qualification. Not only that, but we know for a fact that money does not always equal expertise. (Epitaph)
The real issue you are having is that the maps and gametypes we use are different from matchmaking. This much is obvious. However, we have a time-honored tradition here of doing things our own way. You don't find these wars on matchmaking, and we don't want to give you just regurgitated matchmaking either. If you want competitive matchmaking, I suggest you take your team right into there and get matched up with people in the general neighborhood of your skill. If you want to fight in these wars, you need to know these gametypes and locations, which require practice outside of matchmaking. Now, I know that this war is showcasing some of the first times some of the maps have been played however, it is important to understand that the map variants we put into place here and now will be used in future wars, and therefore memorization and strategy will be heavily reinforced for that time.

Good explanations, certainly gets the points across. =] I am just regurgitating the questions I hear from the members, for conversation. (So nobody kill 'me'.)

From time to time, maps and gametypes may need to be updated in order to preserve balance in our games. In order to capture both 343i's and our own touches in tweaks. This game is relatively still new, thus getting the balance right may take some time. Small edits can be trusted to the forge department, they have some idea of what they are doing. Big changes won't be made without first proposing the idea to the community first. They will be controversial within the community. A series of compromises will be made to introduce the new idea.
At least, that's the vibe I get from FC.

Didn't you step down from FM because you wouldn't be able to take part of the day to day stuff like a war director does?

So the need for another War Director comes from where?
Also the question is should we make changes but it is a very open ended question that doesn't target certain key points in which the creator of the poll wishes to change.

Please don't put assumptions or words into my mouth Silko. (or anything else)
It is a broad subject for people to talk about, that is intentional. Not because of some ulterior motive: Should we alter the maps/gametypes? With the answers: Yes. No. Compromise. and What.
I do expect people to think before they vote.
I am not trying to change anything, just bringing up a topic that should be addressed. =]

Yeah, im even confused on that. You leave for RL, but you take up almost an equal issue. And dowe really need more than 1 WD? isn't it called "Director" and not "Directors"? lol. Oh well, bet you'll do a good job Phoenix.
On Topic though: I get the answer choices, just hard to chose which one though :/

Why? What are the issues you see and don't see? =]
For example, there have been multiple balancing issues with FC's custom games and maps. Would it be easier to address this by not editing them or what can be done to help do a better job?

Change needs to be done, but not surring a war. It needs to be complete during Peace Time and not 10 minutes before the battle night starts :/

Maybe not changing the maps so drastically. What happened to Schism? HUGE fucking changes. Messed up my team's strategy and everything. Not to mention it was updated like an hour before B.N. Maps should be updated COMPLETELY well before the battle night comes around. This has been a common problem and hasn't really improved... :/

I think past June 3rd, or whenever the title update affects custom games, the community should look to tweak the forged maps. Specifically looking at spawns, objective locations and those sort of things. I think the update will slightly alter how some maps are played in FC. That's just my opinion though. I agree we should wait till next war for obvious reasons.

The only the thing the TU will change is punishing people for sprinting recklessly, and we won't have kids sitting in camo with a DMR across map. Spawns, OBJ etc doesn't need to be adjusted because of a weapon tune.
