Pathfinder Units?

I did a search and couldn't find any info so I decided to come here and ask around... On Halo: Reach I was buying armor and found Kat's helmet and the last accessories details said "...A favorite of Pathfinder units." I am curious if anyone can explain what these "Pathfinder units" are to me? I haven't read any of the books so I don't know much about the Halo universe but its cool to know details like this so if anyone can provide some help that would be great! (also sorry if I posted in the wrong area.)

Yes, Pathfinders are scouts. They are the first recon teams.
