Why would the government ever need the ability to do this? Just one step closer to a police state.

indeed, i agree with the article, what point is there to this? is there that much danger? from what and/or whom? if not, it's completely unnecessary to have this much "protection"

Truthfully? Insurgency within the United States. We've seen other countries (Iran, Syria, Egypt) have used things like the internet (social media) IM ect to help with they're uprisings. The US see's the righting on the wall and I bet they believe eventually it might happen in the US.

I find this intriguing. The next election will be very interesting. *Opinion Alert* If the Syrian conflict forces the US's hand, we very well could have an international war brewing on our hands. If that is the case, the most anti-war candidate (across the board) is Rand Paul. Like it or not, his isolationist policies and general distaste for any federal government intrusion into the public's life may carry to the American people. A big IF obviously as this would mark a victory for the tea party/libertarians and could possibly enhance a major political divide within the United States.
