Seems like Minecraft + MMO. Also Myth why dont you use your brain to play competitive games like Starcraft and earn money.

Only way it would be like that is because you can make like 15 or so animals your pets to ride/use in combat.

The game developer said he based it off minecraft and world of Warcraft

Pokemon because you get animals that follow you and fight with you. World Of Warcraft because you get weapons and armor and stuff to kill shit. And Minecraft for the graphics, of course.

It's more like Guild Wars because every weapon has different attacks.
