Pushing the BN start time back an hour.

Hello guys,

I've often wondered what you guys think of pushing the battle night starting time back an hour, it would make it a hell of a lot easier for the UK guys in FC. Making the battle night start time would make it more friendlier for UK recruits and by the time the BN starts I'm already tired and don't play as good on the BN to support my team and army.

I just want to know what you guys think

As much as it pains me to say it Fernando, but there are some difficulties with that. 6PM EST has always been viewed as THE BEST time for the vast majority of FC. This is because it's later in the day when most people have already eaten dinner (which is normally around 5 EST), as well as that most workplaces that are open on Sundays usually close around 5-6PM EST, which allows most of us to get home in time for battles. Most of FC, if I'm not mistaken, is located on the East Coast of the U.S.. Pushing the time back an hour will also have a heavy impact on players on the West Coast, as it'll push times back to 2PM for them, which makes it even more difficult for them. Really, the only conversations we've had in regards to battle times are pushing the time forward an hour if anything to help compensate.

I do sympathize with you on how it's an unfortunate time for the UK/Europe...and I don't want to sound like we are disregarding you guys, because we definitely appreciate and encourage overseas players to join. My only idea would be that if there are enough players from the UK added into FC, we could potentially start at an earlier time with most of the UK squads playing. We once actually had a whole UK version of FC, but it disbanded pretty quickly after their leadership fell apart XD.

Yes we did have it at 7 PM up until the third war of Halo Reach in which it was brought to 6 PM.

But... Change is hard. More people get on later in the evenings and have shit to do earlier in the day, so it's hard to make it earlier than 6.

What Spartan said. I would love to see more members from any location but across the pond has always been a massive plus in my eyes. I can tell you as a member from the West Coast it is hard for us to get on at 3 as it is let alone at 2. I work both closing and day shift on sunday so both those times miss the mark by an hour based on my shift. I wouldn't mind us trying out 5 PM EST for a couple of weeks at the start of the next war to see how it went but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't help the situation.

That would be so early for west coast, 2 o'clock. 3 already seems so early, there isn't a way to satisfy all parties. 6 pm Est seems to work for most people.

Across the pond they start at 11 PM or Midnight. Next day is a school or work morning. That's a consistent thing, too. It's not "sometimes" or "possibly" it just is. 5 PM is no more harmful to me than 6 PM, and I doubt it has that much bigger of an impact on anyone else in North America.

Not trying to guilt the whole community into changing it, but "sometimes it's bad timing for me" is a bad reason to say no to "it's always bad timing for me because that's how the world works".

I'd vote for 5pm BUT leave it until we migrate to X1 H5. Battles starting at 11 and finishing around 3am aren't exactly ideal. Getting up at 6/5:30am for school leaves me around 2 hours sleeps for a 7/8 hour school day. With a further 3 hours on further work. It left me personally exhausted.

I too, am not being a dick, but making a change that would likely negatively affect more people than it positively affects isn't worth it. There's what, 4/5 active EU players of about 40+ total active players right now? If the purely EU squads remained active, I'd give this more thought, but that's not the case. Like Spartan said most East Coasters are just getting off work at 5, and any West Coast players either simply cannot play battles due to the 3pm start (I believe we'd have a lot more activity if we started at a 'happier' medium between West and East Coast, but I'm fine with 3pm as it stands even though It's not ideal.), or they have to bank on early shifts (assuming they work weekends).

Jam we have moved it in the past and that is why I suggested testing it during the first one to two weeks of the up coming war. In my experience a good amount of people tend to show up late as it is with the current time. Yes some people just forget and show up late but in my experience most of the time it is because of a legit reason such as Family dinners (have a lot of under 18 members in the community) and work (Us 18+ and even those under 18 who have a job (good for them)). 3 PM in the middle of the day for us West Coasters isn't always ideal for us and earlier isn't much of an improvement. So this whole guilt trip you are pulling really isn't necessary. We try it and if it gets less numbers then before then we go back to the current time. If we don't try it so be it.

Well. Fuck. I am one of the most active UK players in FC. The time difference takes a chunk out of me for monday's. FC is not ideal for European people at all.

This has been brought up in the past, and declined multiple times. I would not mind seeing the battle night start time be pushed back an hour though, 7pm EST. If that were to be done, we would need to severely improve our setting up matches process.

I do not see it that way, it is still a very inconvenient time for the UK anyway and I have already heard from many people saying they would miss the first map if it was brought an hour earlier.

In reality more people are being inconvenienced than there are people being in convenience.
