Update 8.2

Peacetime This, Peacetime That

The Double-Edged Sword

Peacetime always works two ways, one positive and the other negative. It helps people relax and wind down from the long war, finish up their finals, and take a little time to do other things for a change, but once you get out of the groove of war it's often a challenge to get back into things.

Every army fights this by vigorously promoting army events and practices as much, or sometimes even more, than is done in the midst of a war. Of course, I'm going to be taking most of this update trying to promote these events as well, whether you like it or not (however, I think you're going to like it).

First of, as always during Peacetime, the restrictions on transferring between armies are being lifted, and we always encourage people to give the other side a chance (you might end up falling in love with it). ;)

Peacetime Transfers: http://fcwars.net/forums/showthread.php?13135-Peacetime-Transfers

Medal of Honor Awards

At the end of every war, each army's leadership gives a very special award to a single individual within that army. This is the "Medal of Honor" and is given to a soldier who has gone above and beyond their duties, and have stepped up to cause a widespread difference within their army.

These recipients did a lot of work and have earned this recognition. They can now bask in their moment of internet fame.

So, those who shall be receiving the Medals of Honor for the Fourth War of Halo 4 are....

PanicPhan

{Quoted from Anarchy}
A year ago, I never would have seen myself pinning such an award on Panic. When I was first elected, this man hated me. But the development of his professionalism, his consistent leadership, his squad growth, it's the epitome of the atmosphere I constantly try to explain that armies and this community need. And for once, I found someone who understands it better than I do.

So here's to the old man who finds a way to inspire his unit, inspire me, inspire players who once thought their best FC days were behind them. Here's to the man who saved this army. Because without his come-from-behind unit, this war could have turned out a lot worse.

You earned it.GuzzieStyle

During the leadership changes that occurred in BLUE, Guzzie stepped up and kept the army afloat until the next Field Marshal took office. He acted as General for the war and was continually working to keep army morale up after the constant losses due to forfeits, and tried to give each squad the opportunity to improve to give them a chance for victory. Both of these guys deserved it. Keep up the good work!

New Leaders Have Arrived

As always, immediately after a war, both armies set up an election to decide the next Field Marshals. Both armies have finalized their elections and have already begun getting things in motion to prepare for the future.

Below you can see who your new Field Marshals are!

In an extremely close and back-and-forth race, Purple Gamer 17 (http://fcwars.net/forums/member.php?1592-purple-gamer-17) has become the new REDD Field Marshal! In a much wider race, Nicholas Sapien (http://fcwars.net/forums/member.php?35-Nicholas-Sapien) has become the new BLUE Field Marshal!Congratulations to both of the new FMs. Get to work now and don't let your army slack off!

Directing the War

This is a rather rare change compared to FMs, but one of the War Directors has stepped down, and a replacement has been appointed.

For those uncertain about what a War Director is, basically it's a group of three members who help the army leadership to keep the war going smoothly. The War Directors act as tie-breakers in War Council votes, as well as an unbiased voice to keep things moving. The War Directors are also in charge of the Rules of Engagement, posting the Attack Plans and Battle Results threads, and on the side work as Administrators on the website, among other things.

Anyway, due to real-life responsibilities, Juggernaut has stepped down from the War Directors. In his place, Anarchy has been appointed as War Director by the leadership of both armies, and will now be working for the good of the community as a whole.

I wont bore you with his lengthy resume, but I will say that he will be leading the Forge Department, will direct Map Testing throughout the rest of this Peacetime, and will be working on Player Statistics for the next war, so look forward to that.

Peacetime is Boring! Le Sigh

As mentioned earlier, both armies are holding events to try to keep people active and involved in the war. I highly encourage you to pay attention to all Army Updates posted in your army forums, and make sure you stay informed with what's happening via Skype, XBL, etc.

Aside from army events, though, several neutral things are happening now, and hopefully a few of them spark your interest:

Army Events: Each army has been and will continue to hold events throughout the peacetime. You should stay tuned to your leaders and read any updates they post for information about these events. For instance, BLUE is beginning the [Redacted] soon, so all you BLUE guys should look forward to that, it sounds sweet. By the way, Skype is a great way to stay up to date on things happening in the armies!

Forge Map Testing: This will be starting very soon, and will be led by Anarchy. Possible new maps used for next war will be tested, critiqued, and graded, and the best will likely be used in the next war. If you're interested in getting involved or think you've got a Forged map you want tested, message Anarchy (http://fcwars.net/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=1259) with details!

Titanfall Side-War: {NOTE: Xbox One version only!}This has already been going on for two weeks, but it's not too late to join! The IMC and the Militia have been fighting it out so far, with a lot of close games, and anyone with an interest should join in! Click here for details (http://fcwars.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?785-FC-Titanfall-Side-War).

Pokemon X/Y Tournament: {NOTE: Registration has closed for this!} Guzzie is holding a tournament between FC members on Pokemon X/Y. Eight members are registered, and while it's too late to sign up, if you've got the game on 3DS you could use this opportunity to play some fun games with contestants (I'm sure they'd appreciate practice and whatnot). Click for details (http://fcwars.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?786-DeafOrangutan-Memorial-Pokemon-Tournament).

FC Minecraft FTB Server: {NOTE: PC version only!} Being managed by Phoenix, our Minecraft Server is using a modpack called "FTB Unleashed" and we've had about a dozen people on the server so far. It's open to anyone and we'll walk you through how to get the modpack setup on your computer so you can join (it's easy). Just let me know or message Phoenix (http://fcwars.net/forums/private.php?do=newpm&u=13) that you're interested! {We are discussing changing the modpack, so if you get involved soon you can help decide what we do!}

FC LARP: Being led by Raptor, the LARP is a Roleplay based on the Forerunner Conflict Lore and Story. Twice every week, members get together on Halo and roleplay through various missions and such. Last night they had 16 people show up, and it can be good fun to those who give it a chance! Click for details (http://fcwars.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?302-FC-LARP).

FC Forum RP: While the LARP is on XBL and Halo, the Forum RP is based on the forums and Skype. It is led by Phoenix, and is going to be rebooted with new GMs and community nights included. It'll feature a more cut down design, diverse shop, and more consistent GMs. They are also working on an affiliation with an RP site to bring in more members. The RP begins May 18th. Click for details (http://fcwars.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?462-FC-RP).

Game Nights & Such: While there aren't any going on right now, check back often for one being started up, or start up your own at the link below. There was even a Toonami Night Watching Party event hosted by Darkwhip last night, so host some more events and have some fun! Here's where to go: Click (http://fcwars.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?240-Events).

There's a lot of stuff to keep you occupied this peacetime! Find something you're interested in, or start up your own game nights, and of course stay active in your army events. Good luck, and have fun!

How Long is This Peacetime?

A better question would be "When is the next war starting?" but they mean the same thing.

We've had a bit of discussion in the War Council about the exact start date of the next war. After a bit of back-and-forth, we decided that...
The Next War, Rec5, shall begin on Sunday, June 8th, 2014, at 6:00 PM EST!That's a month from now, so this Peacetime will be slightly longer than usual. Take the time to get involved in all the events listed above, or create your own event, and stay active!

This next war could very well end up being the last war on Halo 4 (depends what happens with the next Halo release), so make sure you guys give it your all. REDD won the ends of both Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, but who is going to come out on top at the end of Halo 4? *crosses fingers for BLUE*

Feedback!

Got an opinion? Complaint? Concern? Let us know about it below! (Or PM someone with it)

I didn't make a Questionnaire this time, so just make a post with stuff below. Since the Peacetime is a bit long we'll have plenty of time to fix things, just let us know what's broken!

Anarchy, as Forge Department Director, made a survey for all things about the maps we use, so click here and give your map feedback (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1NU-iJvFK_ACYmMfU9yKT8aHBhVWy Eym5Hh6XB5wKRVg)!

Website issues? Army structure? Events? etc. Are we doing amazing right now? Need a bit of improvement? What should we work on next? Everyone besides map feedback can be given in a post below!
