So Forerunner Conflict could use a new promotional video for the MCC. I know we always talk about getting one set up and it often tends to fall through. Would anyone here have any interest in filming a fun, funny, exciting, and informational promo video to help advertise FC? Also if anyone is interested in writing, acting, voicing, and directing we should probably get those set up too.

If anyone knows anyone with video/machinima experience that'd be great too.

I know I'm old news, but I'd love to make a more professional Promo. I've got the hardware and now the experience to make something really good.

That's great to hear! We don't need anything too fancy or in-depth, just something that explains what FC is. Add in a battle scene and some humor and it should be good. Shouldn't have to be longer than about 6-7 minutes. We can work on a script/outline together at some point or someone else can add in as well.

IMO 7 minutes is too long in today's YouTube. 4 minutes tops.

Yeah, I can definitely get production and creation down, but if anyone is interested in throwing some ideas for script and all that other stuff, would be very helpful.

As long as there is enough information and badassery idc how long it is!

Definitely need to have a "drink the water" reference in there.

A more comedic take would be preferable IMO.

Something like a newbie being introduced to FC on a "tour" of sorts makes the most sense to me. Have him visit a boot camp, go over the basics, meet leaders, make a robot/skynet reference to Myth, and get thrown into battle.
All that in like 5 minutes tops. :P

Haha I was actually already planning to do this. I've been doing a lot of video because of my job, so I thought this would be something I could give to the community.

Do what, specifically? The more promos the better tbh.

Well, I'm not going to try to force humor or a story or anything that might end up looking to contrived. Here's the write-up I did.

The video will be similar to a company-profile video, where a narrator goes over the benefits and details of Forerunner Conflict.

The editing should be professional and clean, yet fancy. Find interesting shots for B-Roll, such as a 3D Modification of the forum's webpage. Use animated zooms and blurs with masks for the warmap.) and make the video brief, but explanatory. Around 2:30 at max. Anything longer won't be viewed.

The video will explain the basics of how FC operates - half forum, half battlenights - and the system in which FC operates (Forum introduction, war map, army structure, vCash system and strategy, custom gametypes,
Then elaborate on the features and benefits of the forum: the statbook, various discussion boards, the accords, a rich community, vCash integration to the war, then, end with a quick explanation of how to sign up for bootcamp as a call-to-action.)

A two-video front: One more serious and one filled more with humor will be the best two-pronged attack to secure success for FC in the MCC.

If you need help with anything, Dalton, let us know!!

Yeah definitely! If there's any footage of battle nights laying around, that might be useful.

I won't be able to do the video until I secure an Xbox, but perhaps someone could capture some things for me.
I'll lay out a proper storyboard and script. I asked my friend who has an amazing voice to do the narration. Makes it easier to not have to get a large cast together.

Really hope you guys can get the ball rolling on this ASAP! We got some great ideas here being thrown around; unfortunately I won't be of much use until I get back home but if you would like some guidelines or help with anything you can still message me!

As soon as MCC lands, I'll hit the ground running.

My goal is to have it finished a few weeks before the first actual war starts. People who are still playing a few months in will probably be more involved with halo and more open to joining a community. Then, they'll be impressed with the actual war, where as the beta war would be different from their expectations.

Also, I might want to conduct a study/survey to get feedback from members about what the most attractive aspect of FC is to them, what got them to join, etc. I think I understand a lot of it as I know FC well, but it's still good to get concrete, current consumer insight. (I'm approaching this project like an advertising project, since that's essentially one of my majors.)

Would it be possible to get this mentioned in the next update? I can write it up of course, I just want it to get visibility.

If you write it up, Dalton, send it to me or Myth or BH or all of us and we'll make sure it gets some visibility. :)

Just so you guys know, maybe you can take some tidbits from our very first promo video ever. When it first launched we got in HUNDREDS of recruits. It's pretty long, so maybe see what you like, what you don't like, and hammer something down to about 4-5 minutes. This did such a good job though for recruiting because of its mix of info, comedy, and action.

(This doesn't exist on YouTube anymore, only Dailymotion)

KEEP IN MIND THIS IS 8 YEARS OLD AND THERE ARE SOME PRETTY OFFENSIVE THINGS FROM BACK THEN WHEN WE WEREN'T SO POLITICALLY CORRECT AND MATURE XD

I was working on this about a year ago, but stopped after I stepped away. Now that I may be coming back, I might be willing to start it back up again.

After watching old promo vids, I think the problem is too much flair, too vague, and not enough info. We should make the video clear and concise on what FC is about. Besides, we don't want to promote this to kids who have the attention span of flies so you don't have to worry about that. Just focus on the information that we need to get across. Let people know how in depth this community actually is. And the promo vid should also be made in H2:A.

I'm willing to sell my cap card if anyone needs it.

Then again I'm not even sure it would work for a X1. So other methods would probly be preferred.
