I see the Sith have developed a very efficient blade for masochists.

So after watching a few times I am really fucking scared for Star Wars. Soccerball droids? WTF? Also again with these odd looking sabers. People need to stop trying to reinvent the wheel. The only time a lightsaber that was not the classic one blade was ever taken well by the fans was the double bladed saber.

This Jesus saber will ether go very well or very bad. They are also clearly making up a new villain rather then using one of the many awesome ones that were established in the EU. So again they can only go very well or fucking awful. Awesome shots of x-wings and tie fighters are awesome.

If J.J. Abrams managed to have this effect on Kevin Smith, then I'm 100% behind what they are doing with Star Wars, as Kevin Smith is the Geek Guru and one of my favorite directors and most related to my interests.

I hope that was sarcasm. Because that lightsaber was terribly designed.

The point of blade guards such as that are to protect the user. But seeing as the blade has an emitter sticking out, unless the hilt is made from materials that are lightsaber resistant (such things exist in the EU) it will be cut off when a lightsaber blade is forced downward toward the hilt. Also unlike real swords, lightsabers do not have a dull part and a sharp part. All parts of the blade are lethal. Meaning if we are going to see lightsaber fights like we saw in eps 1-3 with crazy acrobatics and saber twirling such as this:

This new Sith is going to be running though hands faster then the men in the Skywalker family.

Silko has a valid point.

But who cares, it's another Star Wars movie!

Colbert is correct to a point. While the blade does start inside the hilt, the emitters all have focusing lenses to keep the saber blade in the shape of a blade. Without those emitters the saber blade would be unstable. So while Colbert is right that if a enemy's saber blade were to make contact with the emitter of a side blade it would just cut into another saber blade, the loss of the emitter's focusing lens would make that side blade useless.

And you know what I also never understood? Why Looney Toons don't die when they fall off 1000 meter high cliffs. Or when they get shot with a shotgun and all that happens is Daffy's beak just spins around.

Or how about how quickly the Death Star was rebuilt after it was blown up there first time? They couldn't have had just droids and stormtroopers working on it so quickly. They must've hired thousands of independent contractors. How come we don't hear about their deaths?

Or why does Obi Wan just disappear when he's killed by Darth Vader? Instead of having blood and shit all firing out.

Or how come Stormtroopers can't aim straight and never hit anything?

Maybe cause it's all fiction and it's silly when we try to make logic out of fictional stuff =D. Can't we just all enjoy the ride like the millions of children who are going to see this? This may be their first Star Wars and if Disney/Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy was of any indication, the new Star Wars is going to be a fun and entertaining ride for all ages. I'm a Star Wars fan through and through and while nothing will probably ever be able to touch my inner childhood (hehe gross) like the originals still do I can still respect that they're trying. Except Jar Jar...that was just...awful.

Massive amount of slave labor and used up the majority of the resources the Empire had left

Or why does Obi Wan just disappear when he's killed by Darth Vader? Instead of having blood and shit all firing out.

Obi becomes completely one with the Force, later becoming a Force Ghost as we saw. Also the lack of blood is due to the fact that Lightsabers are pure energy and the heat cauterizes most wounds.

Or how come Stormtroopers can't aim straight and never hit anything?

They can only when they are not shooting at a main character of the over all story when the story calls for it. AKA bad writing. If you remember a Stromtrooper gets a pretty good shot to hit Leia in the arm in Return of the Jedi.

I completely get this Spartan. I just worry that my childhood will be stompped out as it almost was with the Prequels.
