Today Microsoft held a massive event at their Redmond, WA offices talking more about the previously announced Windows 10. With Win10, they're basically unifying the operating system across PCs, Tablets, and Mobile Phones. Xbox is a big part of that, too (though it doesn't seem like the Xbox One will become a full-fledged Windows 10 device of its own).

TL;DR of today's Windows 10 event:

By the end of the year, you'll be able to stream games from your Xbox One to your Windows 10 PC or Tablet.

Xbox One and PC Gamers running Windows 10 will be able to play games with each other cross-platform. The first example of this is Fable Legends.

Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to all Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows Phone 8.1 users (as long as they upgrade within the first year of Windows 10 being out).

Microsoft is developing a motherfucking holographic/virtual reality headset.

Also, GameDVR, Activity Feed, a unified messaging system, and more are coming to Windows 10 via the Xbox

And the Xbox app will allow you to view your games (including Steam games) in one hub on your PC or Tablet
Microsoft unveiled the new Spartan web browser that kicks IE's ass.

So the answer to Siri is Cortana, and they have a browser coming called Spartan...

Also, why did they skip the number 9? Is it because the mobile OS wasn't the same as 8, so 10 is literally the 10th OS?

From what I heard, it's because they don't want to make a new OS after this and so they wanted to end on a round number.

How come they went from 98/2000 to 7? Who knows. They're MicroSoft, they do what they want.

Because of previous versions of Windows (95, 98), the older software programs typically only check for the first digit of the Windows version. If they used Windows 9, there'd be software issues with older programs.

So, they went to 10 instead of hard-coding a fix.

Kids will never know how frustrating Windows 95 was. My entire life was based around that piece of shit.
