While I loved the pure space battles, I can understand DICE's POV on why they removed them. At least they are still having aerial vehicles during the planetary battles; probably will be much similar to Battlefield's jet mechanics which isn't a bad thing. I'm perfectly fine without the prequel battles as well, only one I really enjoyed was Geonosis.

I can get on board with no space battles or prequel era stuff. Space battles were a big deal during the prequel era, but don't really fit with the Rebellion Era. There were only like 2 or 3 really important space battles in the originals. And I only ever played prequels in BF2 so I could play as certain Heroes. I'm not sure about the single player campaign. If they brought back Conquest mode, I could live without campaign. We could make up our own campaigns. That would be cool.

It's all about the experience mate, not the details. If the experience is great enough, I'd pay $120. I've been waiting for this game for 10 years and I'm just happy they are bringing it back and are putting a huge focus on the Rebellion period and looking forward. They are going to be releasing a ton of DLC with other Rebellion battles AND The Force Awakens stuff. So although we may not get the prequels, we're getting the sequel stuff (plus supposedly the first DLC is free) so that evens it out.

There may always be a slight possibility that they'll come out with some DLC with 1-3 BIG prequel battles; but honestly from what I remember, prequel battles were not as large scale except for Naboo or Geonosis. The Rebellion period definitely had much more exciting fights, and NOTHING beats Hoth.

I'v read on IGN and Gamespot and people are freaking out that there is no single player campaign. Why should there be? We got the movies, we're just playing them out.

The loss of Space Battles does suck, but looking at how Battlefield's Air Superiority doesn't get much attention by the players that it would/could be a waste of resources that they could use on other things.

Are they also doing the load out system like Battlefield does? Like, Mechanic, Engineer, Support and Sniper? Because I only saw 2 different types of troops on each side in the trailer. So maybe it's just 2 choices of a load out now? (I really hope not)

EDIT: Also, I just read on Gamespot that there WILL BE single player missions... just not a campaign. So we are given the chance to play solo

From IGN article: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/04/17/weve-seen-7-minutes-of-star-wars-battlefront-gameplay
"Even though the announcement focusses principally on what will no doubt be the core of Battlefront – those epic fantasy battles – some details were also released about Special Missions, which are single-player or co-op (local or online) scenarios and kind of fill the space of a traditional campaign mode. Unfortunately no specifics examples were given, but they sound a bit like Spec Op missions from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3, which were built around small, distinct tasks, with ties to the original films in mind."

If they brought back Conquest mode

Never really played the space battles as much. If we could do battles with bots without having to go online to play some matches would be fun as well if we weren't really up for going online.

Space battles have always been a major part of any galactic war in Star Wars. The 2 major space battles seen in the originals (The Battle of Yavin 4 and Endor) where not the only major battles during the Galactic Civil War. While it is not shown during Empire Strikes Back, there was a space battle during the Battle of Hoth. Reasons for not showing it include money, run time, production time, and the fact that the battle was short due to the massive amount of Imperial ships vs a smaller Rebel fleet. Other space battles include battles such as the Battle of Kothlis and the Battle of Gall.

While I am disappointed on the lack of space battles, I do trust DICE to deliver an amazing ground game. I hope the in atmosphere flight will be a combo of Battlefront 1's version and the jet system in Battlefield. This fusion would be amazing. As for load outs I would be very ok with a battlefield inspired load out system but taken a step further in that it will allow us to customize armor. For example being able to change out standard Stormtrooper armor for Dark Nova trooper armor.

I'm kinda sad this wasn't set in the new era to help tie in the movies. :c

The first game never had space battles, nor campaign. So I'm not worried. If third person does go away, I will be sad though.

Not really in my opinion. Nothing real special happened in that time to warrant them to focus on those like they did for the others. I wouldn't be surprised though if prequel battles and maps don't come into the future as DLC

Game has been confirmed to support both 1st and 3rd period person views.

The old Battlefronts had "loadouts" as well, except technically it was just choosing a class (and they had like 5-6 of them Lol; they better keep Wookies!!!)

We all have to remember that as amazing as the original Battlefronts were, there is a reason this is called Star Wars: Battlefront and not Star Wars Battlefront 3; it is a reboot of the series that was inspired by the original games, but they are not making it a direct sequel so we need to have the mindset that while the old ones inspired this, they were never obliged to keep certain things or exclude certain things.
