View Full Version : Explaining It All...

Two weeks ago, I figured out that in the Terminator timeline, Skynet originally was given control of military systems on August 4. I posted about it twice, and then ended up deciding to actually do something to commemorate the day...

I was keeping it a secret from everyone, even the War Council. (They weren't too thrilled when they found out about it... lol)

This was ENTIRELY separate from Augustus. It has nothing to do with the FC fiction or anything, and was only for fun.

I know a few of you didn't enjoy it, and I apologize to you few. To those of who were had at least a small bit of entertainment, thank you for your attention. And to those who actually tried to figure some things out, I applaud you.

I set out to make this more than simply something that takes 5 minutes to figure out. I wanted this to be something that would take hours to figure out.

After the first phase (i.e., what happened in the first two hours), it was apparent that you guys needed some help. So, I changed my plans A LOT. What happened in the third thread (the one after the lockout ended) where I gave you guys almost all of the encrypted data, it STILL wasn't enough to give the answer away, apparently.

By the way, this was entirely separate from the official Terminator timelines. I created an entire situation myself, because otherwise you'd be able to see where it was going from the start if you've watched the movies.

I'm pretty sure you guys are quite confused about what it all means, so here is a bit of an explanation to it:

Clues for Against Stupidity quote (in correct order):

BannerLeft: 00101110 01101110 01101001 01100001 01110110
BannerRight: 6E 69 64 6E 01100101
Miles's User Title: 01110100
Andy's User Title: 01101110
Serena's User Title: 01101111
Carter's User Title: 01100011 01110011 01100101
Vick's User Title: 01110110 01101100 01100101
Carl's User Title: 01110011 01101101 01100101
Miles's first PM: 01101000 01110100
Andy's first PM: 01110011 01100100
Serena's first PM: 01101111
Mile's second PM Title: --.
Carter's Post: 01100101
Andy's second PM Title: ....

Andy's first PM Title: -..

Carter's thread title: .--.

"Against stupidity, the god's themselves contend in vain" is a quote by the German dramatist Friedrich Schiller. It inspired Isaac Asimov's The Gods Themselves. It is my personally favorite quote of all time, by the way.

The password was "Schiller" as Major General Perry explained in the last post.

Of course, there were a lot of other minor clues that were meant to allow you to figure it out. Of the people who actually made an attempt to solve it:

250 - RENGADE 0F FUNK decoded the binary in the banner, but got "AI" instead of ".nia" somehow.
750 - Andimion posted about the embedded binary in the first PMs. However, he missed one of them and therefore his entire post was incorrect.
500 - Eagle actually did some research on the characters.
1000 - cCrisis translated the Morse code from the first thread. Also, the hexadecimal in the second thread he decoded and reversed.
1000 - Mededust translated the given encrypted list in the third thread.
1500 - Maxdoggy took that list and made sense out of it. Solved the biggest clue in the entire thing.
1000 - BurningScarekro decoded the Morse code from the final PMs.

While you guys did a little bit, you failed on a lot. Here is a list of what you FAILED to decrypt or whatever, which prevented anyone from solving the final solution:

The URL for the banner images was each a binary string.
At the footer of the page, beside the "Official FC Links" there were 10 binary character strings.
In the first thread, the version of the operating system (Version 01.1.001.01) was a binary string.
The User Titles for each of the first 6 characters included binary strings. The PM ones had one string, while the posters had 3 strings.
The third thread (Vick's) title was "Ordering by ID is important" which was a hint as to how to order the code to get the final solution.
Robert's first PM's title was Hexadecimal code that meant: "Not 2 not 16 but somewhere in between". It was meant to allow you to solve the included code.
Inside Robert's first PM was OCTAL code. It was a hint as to what to do with the quote that Maxdoggy decoded in order to find the final solution.
Kyle's thread (the fourth one) had a title which was "2 cubed" which was another hint to use Octal to solve Robert's first PM.
The Morse code of the final 4 PMs told you to contact Major General Perry if you hadn't already figured it out. No one did. If you paid attention to the naming scheme I used (first names only) then you just needed to research a little and send a PM to "Justin". You would have been given the answer, but you FAILED.
There were many other minor things that don't deserve a mention...

Anyway, the show is over. It was meant to be an Easter-egg hunt to pass the time. For those who actually participated, the number beside your name above is how much vCash you're being awarded with. Congrats, and I hope you had a bit of fun with it!

I love how I only got 500 vCash for knowing all of the characters.... Only had to look up Carter and Serena! I couldn't decode anything due to me not being able to download programs to do it!

Always Myth I had some fun in racking my brain for the back story behind the characters from the movies and TV series.

To all the haters! You all suck, Myth got back at you for all the times you called him Skynet. Which came from when REDD thought he was hell bent on screwing with the maps to make sure BLUE would win.

You can dish it out, but you can't take it!

Myth you forget that we can't understand your native language of binary (Such a cliche' for the robot thing, but I had to do it. Could NOT resist.)

Well good to know your fair knowledge of cryptic message training. Really, it's comforting bro.

Almost forgot, call me crazy: But I really liked the binary infested banner. Gave it some heir of grit is was missing before.

(OH NOES BAZONGA IS TYPING)

1) see, if i knew that this was a fun activity, my opinion would be different... but i seriously thought this community got hacked... then when i learned it didnt and this was set up, i asked for it to stop, or atleast not involve me... sadly i got even more messages <--- thats what really pissed me off

2) chances are if i caught wiff that a member was behind this and its for fun, i would have immediatly guessed it was Myth... sorry Myth, your name is kinda written all over this.

3) If i was into this kind of "mystery" stuff, i might have been entertained by this... but sadly im not and nor do i have the attention span to dycrypt moras code or whatever the fuck "000III0I" is....

4) When i asked for this to stop, i didnt at first mean "stop the whole fucking thing", just dont have me involved... but it did turn into "Stop this whole fucking thing because it was getting way to rediculous...", this isnt CSI you guys, let alone the Terminator (im gonna get extreamly hated for this, but... I hated those movies, i really dont like "AS" (its his abriviations... if you cant figure who that is, you need serious help))

5) I like how i was turned into the bad guy... like seriously??? do you guys seriously get upset over someones opinion??? calling them a "cry-baby" or "childish" just shows you only care about what you say... and if thats the way you are, your not gonna last long here... and if you have been here for a long time, well... im shocked, cuz if i had the power to do so, id kick your ass to the street in a heart beat.

----

So Myth, i apologize for some miss-understanding, however i do not have different views about this... nor do i think it will change... actually im 100% positive it wont change... sorry

I just find it surprising you cant just drop it. We all heard you plenty of times and its cool that you express your opinion but now its just as annoying as the spammed pms.

Kudos.

heres the thing about it.. i would have dropped it, but sadly i wasnt getting them only from "skynet" (the accounts that were used)... no instead normal members were forwording it to me (people who had full control)... thats what REALLY pissed me off and made it so that i would not dropp it... i only got 2 total from "skynet" (Myth got the clue not to send it to me... thank you btw good sir) but alot of people are immiture and wanted to cause drama over drama...

those 2 messages would have been fine and i would have delt with them... but i got atleast 10 more from others... that will not fly

As much as I would love to rant about how irritating this escapade was, it's over. And I odn't know about you but I don't like focusing on the past.

Best thing to do now is to look at the whole thing and say

"Shit, Technically, FC was hacked by skynet. LIKE...A....BOSS"

Considering the events as of recent I'd much rather appreciate that we not obsess about it too much.

As I quoted earlier today: Let's not accidentally start a flame war shall we?

Nicely done Myth. Next time maybe give us Admins a heads up though.

Other than thatm brilliantly pulled off. Ignore the people complaining, obviously they're lack of relaxed nature and ability to delete PM's shows their true colors. Very well done in planning and execution, pulled off like a pro!

You can dish it out, but you can't take it! The point of it wasn't to know the backstory of the characters, which was why you only got a small amount. Also, you don't need to download anything to do conversions like that. In fact, I used this single website (http://textop.us/) for all of it. A simple Google search would have brought it up.

Glad to see someone liked the banner, because the WC sure didn't... xD

So, you're saying that Augustus didn't even do any of that red binary stuff? Because that would mean that he's been seriously lacking in scariness.

i'll give you something to remember myth, no one used octal, but there are thousands upon thousands of ciphers you could have used. And it's not like we have a list of ciphers to try, we have to RESEARCH for new cipher types. Not many people like doing that, so they stick with what they know and that's it. I learned that the hard way.

I wasn't ever going to use something too complicated like true ciphers or anything. Octal is far from complicated. :/

It was actually pretty fun. I spent a little time trying to compile all the codes from the banner and bottom of the site, but didn't seem to get anywhere. I hope something like this happens again in the future. Great job, Myth... you smart cookie, you.

Internet Explorer. Not sure which version. Yeah, everything is fine, but whenever you post, everyone after you, their replies are always centered. Its not a big deal lol its just random.
