Hey Guys and Gals, I was thinking of getting a new phone, but I'm not sure which one? A lot of people say iPhone and others say Droid. What do you all think and why?

If you want something that is idiot-proof and generally good, get an iPhone (however, the new iPhone 5 is likely to come out in the summer).
If you want something that is customizable and generally good, get an Android device. Depending on what carrier you have, there are very many good choices right now.

I have a Droid and regret not getting an iPhone. I think there are more apps for the iPhone because my dad has the newest iPhone and has games that I have never even seen on the Android marketplace

Second.
If you like fiddling with your phone, Droid.
If you don't fiddle, iPhone. (I did not like saying that answer.)

I agree with what most people are saying (if you like having customization then get an android, if not then an iphone especially the 4S) however I would like to add about the issue of memory (which kind of goes to customization). The nice thing about androids (which is what I have and I will go more into detail there) is that you do not have limited memory, you can expand using micro SD cards (so if you fill up an 8 gb card you can go buy a 16 and transfer everything to there etc.) but if you have an iPhone you are limited to the one you buy.
my friends all come to me for cell phone advise so if you tell me what service provider you are on (or that you are considering switching to) I can give you a lot more info.
I currently have the HTC Evo 3D.
I absolutely love it.
The camera quality is great, sound quality is good, does everything I need it to. Is on par with other superphones (1.2 ghz dual core processer, 1gb of ram etc.) and is currently $99.99 on a two year contract with Sprint (service is great, btw I spent $199.99 on mine). When I bought it, it was the most powerful phone on the American market, it is still on par with other phones of the same calibur (which are the most powerful on our market). Its about 7 months old and still running like a champ (cannot wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich update :D). But like I said it depends on which carrier your on (or switching to) and how much you're willing to spend. If your on Verizon I say get the Galaxy Nexus, if you are on/considering switching to Sprint, wait because they are getting (a slightly more powerful) Galaxy Nexus.
If you do get iPhone then jailbreak it my friend has his jail broken and it is aloy better

Well I want to get the iPhone 4s because it seems to be good and popular and I hear it has a program called Seri or something like that. That makes me interested.

I own an iPhone 4 and it's definitely reliable and works great with my personality and love for user interface and aesthetics, but if you're the kind of guy who gets really into the specs and qualifications of every aspect of their phone, get an android.
I'm not about to preach which is better. They're for different kinds of people. Although way too many people like Apple products because they're Apple products, I like my phone because aesthetics are everything to me, and an iPhone is definitely my cup of tea.
In closing, I leave you with this.

I would go with the iPhone, my sisters boyfriend has had to send in his Android multiple times for the thing just going fucking crazy or just breaking on it's own. The only time I've had to send my iPhone to someone is when I dropped it and broke the screen on my way to school.
Apple knows how to make a good product, contrary to popular belief.
Ontop of that Apple is coming out with Apple TV soon and if you have any other Apple products your iPhone works without any additions to those products.
And people aren't "lazy", the market for phones using accurate voice recognition is just beginning. By next year, Android will probably have a similar thing to Siri through the Dragon voice recognition software.
And!!!
4G is a joke it isn't real it's a marketing scheme to get you to pay more for the same date-plan only they allow it to be as fast as it really should be.
4G was a coined term by an internet company in the 90's before it went bankrupt, and now phone companies realize that it makes it seem faster then 3G when really they are just boning you out of money.

I've been using Vlingo Voice Actions for nearly two years now on my Droid 1 and now on my Droid Bionic. The only thing Siri does better is using everyday language to try and determine what you are trying to do. Vlingo uses sets of commands like "Open [insert application]" and "Play [insert music artist here]".
And Eagle, before you go on your conspiracy theories again, please provide evidence to your 4G rant again.
Also, there is no 4G LTE services for any iPhone or iDevice. If you want speed, go Android (unless you want to wait half a year for the iPhone 5).

And EAGLE 4G is only a conspiracy if you believe it is plus the while paying extra money is dependent on what service you're on, I'm on sprint and they only charge $10 extra a month and that's not you're 4G that's a premium for every smartphone device. Also as far as Androids crapping out, the.good ones like the EVOs, Samsung Galaxy IIs, the Galaxy.Nexus, etc never crap out unless its user error, my phone had freaked out once and that was because.I was dumb and tried to use it in the rain, and then once it dried it was fine. (new just typed this on my HTC EVO 3D.)
Btw something that I personally love that All Androids (2.2 and above) have today IPhones don't have is Swype.

I don't believe it's a conspiracy...
It's a marketing term that is used to make phone companies more money, when in fact they bone you out of money as is.
Text messages cost absolutely nothing for the phone company to send, yet they charge for texting...

I'm going to say this now, 4G is not purely a marketing term.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/ITU-says-LTE-WiMax-and-HSPA--are-now-officially-4G_id15435
(http://www.phonearena.com/news/ITU-says-LTE-WiMax-and-HSPA--are-now-officially-4G_id15435)4G is an actual standard set by ITU-R. Current 4G you see in cellular phones do in fact meet the standard. The standard is only 1Mbps to meet 4G standards according to ITU-R. Do they use it to market? Yes, but a basic marketing study will show that consumers like new technology. They would be foolish to not market it.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/221931/4g_wireless_speed_tests_w hich_is_really_the_fastes t.html
(http://www.pcworld.com/article/221931/4g_wireless_speed_tests_w hich_is_really_the_fastes t.html)PC World's test show that the 4 major carriers have met and surpassed this speed.
Another thing I want to point out. iPhone is a specific phone running the iOS platform. Andriod is the platform, however the amount of devices using this platform can not be counted on your fingers. If you want to compare phones, compare the phones, not the platform. Personally iOS vs Andriod, I prefer Andriod hands down. Very lightweight, can run on just about any phone, very open ended market, and very easy to use. Granted, the iOS is easy to use as well, but it's a bit more on memory usage, and it does not support additional flash media. I can not say anything on the actual user interface as I do not own a product that runs iSO.
Hardware wise, I will say this. I feel the hardware between Samsung Galaxy SII vs iPhone 4S is damn close, however the SII has the slight edge. Don't get me wrong, the hardware on the iPhone 4S is solid, I just feel the SII is a bit better.
I feel the platform is the important part. You can have a great piece of hardware, but if your software limits you, there is no point to the hardware. I personally would go for an Andriod based phone over iOS. There are phones that use the Andriod software at all price ranges. Hell, even the prepaid phones in Wal-Mart are now running Andriod.
End of the day, it is up to you and your market research. Make sure you look at sources that are on both sides and evaluate carefully.
**EDIT**
Eagle your "evidence" is almost two years old. The technology has changed since then. Back in 2010, yes it was marketing because they were able to barely meet the standard. Now in 2012, it is true. This is a true 4G network as defined by ITU-R.

Sprint is the way to go for any phone. I have the HTC EVO Shift. Use it everyday and use it to access the forums more than my pc. I used to be all about customizing and it's definately better on an android than iPhone but I am becoming allot more busy and an iPhone would be allot more convenient. Sprint is offering me a free upgrade to get a iPhone for free so I'm getting that soon.

Thanks Metkil for posting that. Lol. Your rebuttal is much better than mine would have been.
AT&T "4G" was complete bullshit until just recently when they finally put up some 4G LTE towers (which is what legitimately is how 4G should be). What they have is called HSPA+, which is basically 3G+. AT&T consistently has been using these marketing gimmicks to try and showcase their "superior" service. In reality, they have often been around 2 years behind Sprint and Verizon in their technology.
The 4G service I get at a local restaurant (with only 1 bar out of a possible 5) gets me about 16.0Mbps connection on Verizon's LTE network. There's all the proof you need, Eagle.

How did you manage to get that?
And I agree, Sprint is definitely the way to go they have been firsts on quite a bit (the first 4G phone in the USA, the first 3D phone (which you can take however you want) and the first American iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S II), whats awesome is that they are getting the Galaxy Nexus and possibly the Sprint version is going to be a tad bit faster (1.4 dual core ghz processor as opposed to Verizon's 1.2) than Verizons.
