Prometheus Review

[Carpe Vexillum]

I am going to see the midnight showing at the Madison IMAX tonight, I will promptly post a review here of what i liked, didn't like, and the film over all as a whole - music wise, cinematography wise, and all the stuff.

(Exercising the things i learned in my Modern Cinema class this last semester.)

I am an Alien fanboy at heart and I love Ridely Scott's work in Alien but also Hannible and Blade Runner. So be prepared!

Bump: I also just saw that tonight (very good) and rewatched the trailer that Carpe posted.

And DAMN. Just that TRAILER has SO MANY spoilers? What the hell was their marketing team thinking?

Sorry been busy dealing with family stuff. Ill get to this eventually. Glad you liked it Eriri. The trailer does have spoilers, BUT its misleading in a few big parts. It was classic Ridley Scott work, just with CGi this time around.

The team in Sega thats developing Aliens: Colonial Marines said that they pushed back the date because they sat down with Ridley Scott (original Alien creator) and say that he opened up so many doors that they didnt even know there were. I think this movie is a testament to him reclaiming the mess that came after his redefining of the genre (aka 2 horrible movies and a good dozen shitty games). Basically its his child and he will do what he wants with it. Which is nice to see since he can obviously do it right.

Anyway more on it later.

It was a very pretty, well shot movie, but the story was horrible.

The characters were dicks and I wanted all of them to die. And they consider themselves "Scientists" (I use that term very loosely) when they don't even have evidence to prove how the engineers want them to visit their planet? They just say, "Because I believe."

The biggest twist in the movie? Charlize Theron has a dick.

Like I said, it was a gorgeous movie, but everything else was a let down.
