Hey guys, so recently Myth announced in update 6.3 (http://fcwars.net/forums/showthread.php?7932-FC-Update-6-3&p=94024#post94024) that when we change to the new vCash system that everyone will be reset to 1,000 vCash.

Now, anybody who's invested into the old vCash system should be unhappy with this.
Why should we lose all that vCash we earned?

Well, in the topic Myth said this:

If enough people are disgruntled, maybe let you convert a portion of your vCash to the new vCash? It'd be a low conversion rate, but it'd be something.

So, here's my suggestion for the conversion rate.

We originally received...
2.0x our bet. (1:1 odds, bet 1,000 - make 2,000)

The average successful bet will warrant...
1.415x our bet. (see below)

Assuming we bet on battles (1.5x return) 75% of the time vs sports/misc (1.33x return) 25% of the time...
[We could actually figure this out based on vote totals, this is just a guess]

(1.5x * .75) + (1.33x * .25) = 1.4575x

So,

The vCash we were making was 72.875% easier to earn.
1.4575/2.0 = .72875

So, I think we should keep 27% of our current vCash.

Either that, or implement "tax brackets" so that everybody gets a reset, but there's still class distinction and you start higher if you had a large sum in the old system.

NOTE: This would only apply to people with over 27,000 vCash. (Or whatever the rate would be times 1,000)
If you had less than that you would just hit the 1,000 bar, because 27% of anything less would be under 1,000.

Okay, so I am going to throw something out that is excessively evil, if you personally feel like you just want to maintain Vcash. To those of us out there with a large sum of Vcash, why not offer to purchase titles and such to the other people in our community, and have them pay use back in the renewed Vcash system with a slight decrease in the return. >.>

Thanks for actually working out the math, Deathhawk, although there are a few other things to keep in mind.

The entire point of the new system is to fix the old one. The problem with the old one was that it was too easy to build up vCash, have a large amount, and then that left the newer members without a purpose. Them donating to an army didn't help the army, since the army would still end up getting the max donations every week. It was a very skewed thing that only benefited long-time members who managed to double-up a few times and get an insane amount of vCash.

Why should we lose all that vCash we earned?

You say "earned," but I'm not so sure everyone with lots of vCash "earned" it. How is making 100,000 vCash off a single bet due to imbalanced armies "earning" it? What did they do to "earn" it besides realize "this army is guaranteed to lose, so I'm betting everything on the other army." If anything, that is exploiting the system, isn't it? Not everyone did this, but the majority of those with large amounts of vCash did.

Because 90% of the vCash out there was made that way, I'm thinking something like a 5-10% conversion would be more appropriate.

However, not everyone would start out with merely 1000 vCash. All the vCash that would have otherwise been distributed the last month or so has been delayed until the new vCash system. This means people who have donated to the site, won contests, been in the Top 10, purchased War Bonds last war, etc. will all be getting their vCash when the new system is implemented.

Maybe i overlooked it, but for those of us who purchased stuff with our Vcash lose those purchases? Such as custom titles.

You're right, there is an expanding margin because of the differential.

Here's some data:

Let's say we do enough bets to garnish 200,000 vCash, doubling them (or 1.5 each time) and see where our numbers go.

Bet One
1000 - 2000
1000 - 1500

Bet Two
2000 - 4000
1500 - 2250

Bet Three
4000 - 8000
2250 - 3375

Bet Four
8000 - 16000
3375 - 5062.5

Bet Five
16,000 - 32,000
5062.5 - 7539.75

Bet Six
32,000 - 64,000
7539.75 - 11309.625

Bet Seven
64,000 - 128,000
11309.625 - 16964.4375

Bet Eight
128,000 - 256,000
16964.4375 - 25,446...

That ends up being almost exactly 10% towards the end, but starts out as a 30% difference.

So, I'd say 5-10% is fair. I DO think that we should get a conversion though.

Despite the fact that vast amounts of vCash were gained, people DID still have to bet on events.
The odds of winning wouldn't have changed based upon how much vCash you receive.

Since people did still get those wins, (or risk losing money) then they did earn SOME vCash.
I know we also don't want to give people too much at the beggining, so <10 wouldn't be so bad.

I'd also like to note that I NEVER abused the 1:1 odds. I always bet with the chance that I could lose, so I never put in more than 50% of my money on one bet. Even still, I ended up with a decent amount.

I think we need to have more competitive betting to go alongside. If you have (basically) guaranteed wins then the system will get broken regardless.

For making that more fair I would say lower returns on battles OR adjust the odds each week based upon how likely they are to win (Based on each armies records (overall or on that sized map))

I think everyone should keep their Vcash except for Dalton, and we burn his in a pile out on the courtyard.

whenever i did bet, which was rarely, i expected to lose on some of them
