Now I don't know exactly how many of you know about this but the Evil Dead was an American indie Horror film released back in 1981. The film became a cult classic that produced 2 sequels, a stage musical, and a video game. The series even started the career of B list actor Bruce Campbell. On July 13th, 2011 the Director of the original movie (Sam Raimi) announced that he & the film's star Bruce Campbell would co-produce a remake of the original film. Sam Raimi is also known for directing the Spiderman Trilogy, the TV show Spartacus: Blood and Sand, as well as other movies and TV shows.

I myself was a fan of the first 2 movies (not so much the third). In my senior year of high school my best friend (who also loved the films) and I co-directed the musical stage production for our Senior Project in drama class. You can find more info on the series on the wikipedia page here: The Evil Dead (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Evil_Dead)

Not too long ago the trailer for the remake film was released. The trailer is a "Red Band" trailer, which means Mature Audiences ONLY

WARNING: Very Graphic Scenes Included. Mature Audiences ONLY

To me it looks as if Raimi is using all the 21st century material he has access to now to make the film as violent as he wanted to back in the 80's. I am very excited (as well as scared) for this film to release. I will not lie, the trailer made me squirm at parts.

If you want to watch a discussion of the trailer IGN did a feature of it on their rewind theater which you may view as well:

Now feel free to comment, discuss, or ask me questions. I will answer everything to the best of my ability.

Remake. No stop motion animation here. At least I doubt it. The new one looks crazy especially since the old ones were insane. The only thing is, is Ashley a girl in the new one? At the end of the remake trailer, at least I think, mine cut off a little early, was that the part were Ash cuts his hand off? That was a girl. So is Ashley played by a chick now?

And apparently(off-topic, but sort of on) they're remaking Carrie also.

I haven't seen those movies in so long, Evil Dead Trilogy or Carrie. I think I'll go find them. Thanks Unlucky.

I actually own Carrie, if I want to watch Evil Dead I go to my friends house. He owns the collectors edition trilogy. And yea I have no Clue if Ash is a guy or girl this time around. I watched the trailer analysis and it just confused me more on that question.

I watched the analysis for about 5 minutes and they said it may not even be a remake, it may be another sequel. Very interesting stuff. Maybe Ashley isn't even the main character. Don't know. I'm excited though. This movie looks way gory and amazing.

So, I continued on past 5 minutes on the analysis. I actually watched the whole thing and all I can say is WOW. They had a nice Arrested Development reference in there. And I found out mine did cut off early. I didn't see the tongue cutting part at the end.

Now, I can't wait to see this movie. I just really hope that the MPAA doesn't gut it. I didn't even know there was a Red screen for Mature Audiences trailers. Never seen one before, didn't even know they existed. Hopefully, the MPAA doesn't force them to edit some of the violence. That would totally suck.

I really need to re-watch The Evil Dead Trilogy. I've only seen Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 once each, however I've seen Army of Darkness, like 3 times. Not because I like it the most, but because it was on HBO. I honestly think Army of Darkness is less scary than the first two. I haven't watched the 1st 2 more because of a thing that happened during the 2nd. During one of the parts where the lights were flickering, my overhead lights started flickering because of bad wiring. At a particularly frightening part of the movie, the lights flickered and then completely died. It scared the shit out of me and after that I couldn't watch the scarier Evil Dead movies anymore.

Anyway, I'm super excited and I hope my friends and I will go see it in a group. I need to find out if they even know what the Evil Dead is. This is gonna be so much fun. Something to look forward to after Halo 4 comes out.

YES! but I don't think that i will be the same with the big budget and no Bruce Campbell.

with the big budget and no Bruce Campbell.

Means more gore. And Bruce Campbell is producing, I'm thinkin' cameo.
