View Full Version : Deuterium, 6v6 or 8v8?

So we want some opinions from the community.

The first week of this war, we played on Aurora and Deuterium. If you played, you may remember having some framerate issues on either of those maps.

Well, if possible we always try to avoid things like that. It is difficult to do that, since Forge objects aren't very optimized, and having 16 players causes a significant load on the 360's processors. There isn't a good way to resolve it without redesigning the map from the ground up.

So, vote above on what you think Deuterium should be, either 8v8 or 6v6.

This will quite likely affect the battle for today.

We did some matches on it yesterday, 8v8, and had no lag issues. The lag is really dependent on how crammed together people are on the map.

That being said, I voted 6v6 anyway because the map still plays well as a 6v6, but lags less.

^ that would probably be the best bet, I was playing 7v7s that almost turned to 8v8s and I was fine, but two people on my team were lagging, I don't know if it was there Internet, but 6v6s should be good for the best

There are really too many places on the Map to hold out for it to be a 6v6. I feel like we'd be spread too thin.

I was playing a couple 8v8's on it yesterday and I had ridiculously bad screen lag. Add on top of that the fact that I was using the sniper rifle and I'm surprised I could even get more than a dozen kills >.>

That being said, ideally we'd be able to play it with 8v8 because it is a rather large map, but I just can't handle the lag on that map so I chose 6v6.

most people play 7v7 custom games because of lag, even though its an odd number it's "supposedly" better than 8v8. 6v6 should be used for medium maps with vehicles and stuff. but thats just my opinion Idc I think whatever will make the game lag less is always better.

Framerate isn't dependent on internet connection, but the 360's CPU and RAM.

So that means that people with older model 360's will likely suffer more framerate issues, as well as if someone has been using their 360 a lot before playing, their RAM may not be able to handle it as well as someone who had just turned on their 360, for example.

Very true, the map is a bit too large for 6v6. However, I do think it would be more fun (especially for those who would suffer framerate issues) than keeping it 8v8.

If we're going with 6v6, I hope it's at least tested first.

I say test it. If it works with 6v6 do it, if it dosnt people can suffer through an 8v8.

6v6 seemed fine when we did it.

The map is obviously a bit more extensive and less populated, but personally I think it plays fine (similar to how Solace is a bit large for a 4v4 compared to other small maps). That's just my opinion, though.

Solace is a good comparison.

Deuterium works as a 6v6. Unless you're doing conflict, people will hover towards objectives anyway.

Ill be online around 430. I can help test it if needed

Yeah, those games went very smoothly frame-rate wise, and as far as finding people to kill I didn't seem to have much of a problem.

I remember when I played on an 8v8, I was completely fine until I got in a warthog or got remotely close to another person. One minute we drove to D but somehow ended up at A.....
I thought it was just me and my connection until I realized that it was perfectly fine on Sanctuary.

Yes it did. Hardly any lag either.

I must say the change to 6v6 went swimmingly.
