    FC 7th Anniversary

    EXTRAVAGANZA!!1!

Greetings everyone! Today is a very special date in the history of our community. Seven years ago today, what we now call Forerunner Conflict was founded by a group of friends wanting to have fun in their own War Simulation.

So, to commemorate this anniversary of our founding, we're gonna throw some festivities and have some extra-special fun.

SpartanBH, one of our original founders, was kind enough to grace us with the following chunk of awesome:

-I was only 14 years old.
-Osama Bin Laden was still alive
-A black president was the farthest thing from becoming a reality
-Some of our very own members were literally coloring books in Kindergarten
-Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr were all pretty much nonexistent
    -Myspace and Xanga.
-There was no such thing as an Xbox Live party where you could talk to people while playing separate games
    -Pluto was still a planet
-iPhones and Smartphones were only for the EXTREMELY wealthy
-Halo 2 was still the most popular game, even though the 360 was already released
-Haiti and Japan were hit by terrible natural disastors
-Mythonian was actually a little boy who was abducted by Aliens and had his brains implanted into a supercomputer.

It's been SEVEN YEARS since the day Raz, I, Nth Pvt Tucker, Blackdragonn, Silverdagger, MadSquirrelyDUD, MicroJupiter, and Tyranny90 sat down and talked for 6+ hours in a Halo 2 lobby to discuss a foundation of a war-simulation community that would not falter so easily like the past FIVE previous war-sims that we all took part in. We developed a plan that would give us stability, popularity, competition, fun entertainment, a tactical HALO experience, , and of course, a community based on fun and respect. The eight of us sat there, we didn't argue, we just brainstormed. We knew that even before we started RvBR, the war-simulation community was a special and unique idea that if executed correctly, could provide the greatest experience for any HALO player. During the meeting, if we had a good idea, we wrote it down and discussed it with a more in-depth analysis later on in the conversation. We ended up with Red vs. Blue: RETALIATION. Sure, there were small arguments and conflicting opinions, but we compromised on the ideals that would be set in stone for years to come. It's amazing how one meeting between eight FRIENDS created a dynamic and spectacular community that over seven years, has forged the greatest of friendships, held some of the most EPIC games that will ever be played in the HALO universe, and has held such a unique and wonderful experience that it's hard for someone to not at least TRY the community.

Fast forward seven years from the creation. I am extremely proud that RvBR (now obviously Forerunner Conflict) has survived and thrived for so long. Each and everyone one of you and everyone in else in the community striving to push this community forward are to thank. But...there have also been some major disappoints over the past several years. In the history of RvBR/FC, our darkest moments have been the never-ending wars on Halo 2 that only ended when Tyranny and I decided to stack BLUE army after a year of war-restarts just so we could finally win. There have been several hackings, several bad apples that have caused major disturbances, major community changes such as Operation Firestorm, and major times of inactivity that pushed our great community to the brink of extinction. But we survived, and after each near-death experience, we have come back stronger and better.
And now we are at one of the largest and most active periods in our history. We have more people playing in battles, more games being setup, more events, and more community involvement than ever before.

Things like the Podcasts, the Top 5, the FC Radio, the RP & LARP, a deep lore, and much, much more were not here way back in Halo 2, and it seems that every week new things get added, new members get involved, and the community gets a little better overall.

Respect and fun, in an organized war simulation. This community has accomplished what no other has ever done, and we have no plans on stopping.

So, to celebrate these last 7 years and for a positive future that brings even more prosperity to our awesome community, we will be holding festivities for the next 3 days.

    Event Schedule:

    • Friday (June 14th)
      • Halo 3 Game Night
        • 5:00 PM EST until midnight (or later).
        • Come join us for a look down memory lane at Halo 3. We would do H2 if we could, but H3's still awesome.
        • We'll be doing all kinds of customs, as well as a few mock battles perhaps? Get a taste of FC settings from back in the day!
        • Curious how FC was back then? We'll be having veterans share their stories about everything from the original founding 7 years ago up until the end of the last H3 war on August 22nd, 2010.

    • Saturday (June 15th)
      • Halo 3: ODST Game Night
        • Starts 1:00 PM EST until 4:30 PM EST.
        • After Halo 3, Bungie gave us ODST, and introduced Firefight. FC never used it for battles, but it's still a pretty awesome game.
        • Everyone will be split up into groups for Firefight to have a blast by blasting away some Covenant scum.

      • Tournament of Destiny
        • 5:00 PM EST until 8:00 PM EST
        • The main event of the night. See details below.

    • Sunday (June 16th)
      • Halo: Reach Game Night
        • 1:00 PM EST until 5:00 PM EST
        • Reach was unique, to put it nicely, but we still had some of the closest (as well as some of the not-so-closest) wars of our history, and some very insane maps for the wars...
        • Come join us as we do a few fun customs, but primarily show off FC settings and maps, featuring: Tritan, Viery Plaza, Manifest, Emerald Tower, Jackal Creek, and more!
        • The semi-veterans from this period will be giving us all a history lesson on the events that occurred here. Get ready to hear some pretty awesome stuff! (especially about Tritan, aka Kuhblam's PCC!)

      • Halo 4 Game Night
        • 5:00 PM EST until whenever
        • After Reach, 343 gave us Halo 4, and our current era began. You all know our settings and our maps, so we'll be doing customs and having fun.
        • We'll be wrapping everything up, announcing some things, and looking forward to another successful year for the community.

During each and every one of these events (when possible), we'll be livestreaming at http://www.twitch.tv/ForerunnerConflict (For Friday and Saturday, it may start late)

We will also be giving away prizes!

    Caught your attention, right?

Here's a list of what you snag (subject to change):
    • x6 FC Stickers
    • x2 FC T-Shirt
    • x2 FC Posters
    • x2 1000 MSP
    • Destiny
    • {May add more if we get some last-minute donations}

    Here's how to earn them:
    • Friday: We will give away 1 FC Sticker and 1 FC Poster given out during the H3 game night.
    • Saturday: 1 FC Stickers and 1000 MSP given out during the ODST game night. Winners of a Firefight contest will be entered for a chance to win the MSP.
    • Sunday: 1 FC Sticker and 1 FC T-Shirt given out during the Reach game night, and 1 FC Sticker and 1 FC Poster given out during the Halo 4 game night.

Just show up and participate in both the games as well as the livestream for your chance to win something!

    The Tournament of Destiny

Any FC member who has participated in at least one battle night can sign up, but there will be a max of 60 players.

You all will be competing for a copy of Destiny, Bungie's new game. This tournament is not something that will be easy, so come prepared for some grueling, neck-and-neck fighting, all the while being livestreamed and watched by the community.

So here's how it's gonna work on Saturday...

    • Round One (5:00 PM EST) - 60 players.
      • Halo 4: 12-player FFAs. 5 lobbies, each will be grouped randomly.
      • Map will be either Exile or Complex. (vote in the signup form below)
      • As for settings, we will use a modified FC:Rec2 Conflict.
      • No map ordnance, personal ordnance given twice as often, 3-second spawn trait of 150% damage resistance but only 50% damage to others.
      • Games will last 15 minutes.
      • Top 8 advance from each game.

    • Round Two (6:00 PM EST) - 40 players left.
      • Halo 4: 5-player Racing. 5 lobbies, each will be grouped randomly.
      • Map is TBA. Fuzzy will announce it ASAP.
      • Will use the HaloTracks Race gametype.
      • Length of the race will be adjusted so it will last ~15 minutes.
      • Top 5 advance from each game.

    • Round Three (7:00 PM EST) - 25 players left.
      • Halo 4: 5-player Jumping. 5 lobbies, each will be grouped randomly.
      • Map is TBA. Maxdoggy will announce it ASAP.
      • Will use the map-specific settings.
      • Fighting is allowed, but everyone will do no damage, and a referee may disqualify players if they get out of hand and are trying to help someone win by blocking someone or something. Don't be a dick.
      • First player to complete the course in their game will advance.
      • If no one in a game completes the course in time, the person who reached the farthest will advance.

    • Round Four (8:00 PM EST) - 5 players left!
      • Trivia round!
      • All finalists will be brought onto the livestream Skype group, where myself and a few others will ask trivia questions.
      • Anything related to the community is fair game, whether it be history, lore, etc.
      • Answering correctly will earn you points based on the question difficulty.
      • If you answer incorrectly, the next person will get a chance to answer it, and so on. If no one gets it, we move on.
      • These questions will not be something that you should need to look up or something, you shouldn't be relying on that but instead should try to pay attention to the stories that the veterans give out during the previous events. *hint*

    • Award Ceremony!
      • Following the completion of the Trivia Round, the one with the most points will earn the grand prize: a copy of Destiny when it comes out!
      • We will pay for it and have it shipped to you. For your console of choice. Standard edition of the game (unless you want to foot the extra bit, in which case we'd still put forward the price of the standard version)
      • The runner-up will receive an FC T-Shirt.
      • Third place will receive an FC Sticker.

If you are interested, sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ivv...1onhw/viewform (signing up closes at 4:00 PM EST on Saturday, 1 hour before the tournament starts)

You may have noticed that one of the 1000 MSP prizes isn't listed anywhere. We will give that out as a surprise sometime during the festivities, so stay involved and you might be the lucky one to snag it.

The next 70 hours or so should be a lot of fun, so stay tuned for more details and try to get involved!
