Skirmish : Breakout on Altitude
BLUE Attacks Deadlock (8v8 Sym)
REDD Attacks Plaza (4v4 Asym)
Week 2 of the Beta War is a less focused test and instead introduces a Skirmish, a BTB map, and an Asymmetric map, all in a single night.
The Skirmish will begin at about 5:30 PM EST, and we'll be trying to get everyone a single game. This is because we want to give enough time for the armies to form up into teams of 8 for the BTB map, which will begin at about 6:00. We'll be aiming to switch to Plaza at about 7:30.
Gametypes are going to be more of a hassle this week compared to last week. Please make sure you take a few minutes to put them together and be prepared for Sunday! (Hopefully we get a Fileshare relatively soon, but it's unlikely to be here before the Forge release). We received a lot of feedback about maps, gametypes, and overall experiences, and will be putting all of that to work. Map feedback will have to wait for Forge, but the rest is being worked on now and will hopefully bear fruit for the future.
Note that squad transfers and other attempts to balance skill, numbers, recruitment, and leadership between armies is not a simple task. It's something that we've always struggled with. The current situation is being discussed at length and certain individuals are talking to their squads about potential transfers and trades so that we can sort this mess out. Whether it happens before this Battle or sometime next week is uncertain, so if you have further feedback on the matter please bring it up to your High Command to ensure they're aware of it.
Gametype Options
Gametypes available will vary by map:
Explanation of notable changes:
Conflict removes the score penalties from Suicides/Betrayals, which is how things have been since Halo 3. This was an oversight for v1, so it was fixed for v2. The increase of respawn times from 5 seconds to 6 is purely for testing purposes. I want to see exactly how much a 1 second change affects the games, so I hope you guys enjoy being guinea pigs!
Conquest is being added. It's a throwback to a gametype of the same name we had back in Reach, and plays nearly identically. Control a single base, get 1 point every 3 seconds. Control two bases, get double that. Control all three, get 3 points every 3 seconds. First to 500 wins. I hope it's received well, and be sure to give me some feedback on it!
BTB Gametypes are separate from the normal 4v4 ones because it uses AR/BR starts instead of AR/Magnum. This is how it is in MM, and due to the nature of the maps having AR/Magnum probably wouldn't play very well, so this week we'll be using the MM starting weapons. Additionally, it extends the radar to 25 meters like it is in Warzone. Other than that, the objective settings are the same from the normal 4v4 gametypes.
