New External HDD for Xbox One
Got an external HDD to manage all my games on my Xbox One. This guy right here (2TB model):

To compare, I loaded up Prague in Forza 5 while the game is still on the internal HDD, to which it took 39 Seconds.
Moved the game to the external, gave the Xbox a hard reset, and it loaded the same map/track on the external HDD in 28 seconds.
Wewt.

So just about any HDD or SSD will work?

Must be USB 3.0. Would recommend a "desktop" external rather than a "portable" external, as they tend to be 7200rpm whereas portables are usually 5400rpm due to desktop externals using a dedicated power source. The stock Xbox One HDD is 5400rpm to compare. The faster speed will load maps, missions, etc. faster in-game. Not a "real" performance boost, but it's nice.
But yes. Anything USB 3.0 hypothetically will work. I'm considering getting a tiny external SSD to run the games I'll play the most on (MCC, Destiny)

I'm wondering if a 256GB Flash Drive will work, as the minimum is 250GB for the external drives.
Have you heard anything about those working or not?

Aren't flash memory and hard drive memory stored completely differently?

I think it has to be an actual drive for the game to be run off of, otherwise you're basically running a game off a thumb stick. Even portable external drives are actual full-on drives that spin and everything, so I really don't know.
If you have one, plug it in and see if it recognizes it.
If you were going to buy one, I have no idea why you'd buy one for this purpose.
Re: New External HDD for Xbox One
Even if you can't run games off of it, you should still be able to store media files on the One just like we could on the 360 using a thumb drive

How quickly does the internal harddrive on the One fill up?

Lol as it seems apparently very quick considering I hardly have anything and its already at like 30% full. Mostly because of the embedded OS I believe.
Also this isn't a bad idea, but I would rather wait till cyber Monday or black Friday to get something like this considering it will much cheaper.

I actually already own this same model Seagate. I love it, but I haven't really used it much yet. I bought it to backup my laptop to switch to Windows 7 but never got around to it. Glad I can get some use out of it
