With the Sangheili, the Empire has continued joint naval monitoring operations from the days of the UNSC post Human-Covenant War. Imperial troops separate from those fighting the Brotherhood are devoted to this purpose; they now form an additional ground component.

In addition to those monitoring operations, since the Empire's formation it has been a policy point to cleanse Flood from the ring and conduct repair operations whenever possible. Over the past several years, life support systems have come back online; however, vast structural damage is still a problem for the occupants.
