☽☾ In the year 2572 a stunning revelation changed the very world the empire knew so well. They discovered a huge Forerunner deposit of equipment and secrets. And the rebels weren't far behind on this discovery, they had brought much of the forerunner equipment into the system and therefore into circulation. Years after this discovery, society still held mix views on the new found technology. So in order to ensure peace, the government created a registration act that required each citizen to be registered so that they were easy to identify and track knowledge and movement of these artifacts. As the world’s people evolved so did their technology. Dramatic advancements occurred reaching beyond anything people imagined. The empire took this leap in technology as an advantage for themselves, using it to clamp a tight control over their people.
☽☾ In the year 2574 a series of famines, natural disasters, and strange new diseases occurred. People believed Judgment Day had finally arrived though no one really knew what was happening. The effects were devastating: toppling cities, drying out entire planets, darkening the skies, killing off hundreds, and leaving skeletal survivors in the wake of barren worlds. When the empire finally regained their composure and began recovering their people they pinned the blame on the Resistance, and their folly with the Forerunner technology. The people believed them. Ever since the Resistance and Empire had made their discovery known, the world had changed . . . and not for the best. The Emperor used this fresh, growing hate to help round up more and more groups of the Resistance and their allies, sentencing them to death. It seemed as if politics had won out over the war in its ability to tear apart the revels. During this time, a great city came into existence forged by the Resistance to try to clear their name of the disasters. Most of the surrounding planets and even land on this planet had been turned to rubble and ruins when world after world was plagued with disaster, so from the ashes rose the new. The city was a source of hope, a light in a barren world. People flocked to this new city from countless planets, buildings towering as high as the heavens, and with a new technology that no one had ever seen or experienced before. It was a sheltered world that people believed would be better than what they came from, better than the Barren’s that surrounded the city and stretched into the horizon. It wasn't all glory and happiness though; the city was a power struggle. The Resistance was unknowingly losing control to the Empire. When the Emperor finally smothered out the last dying flame of the Resistance control they stepped into the light and knowledge of the people, becoming the known governing body of the city.
☽☾ The Empire controlled everything. They controlled the light that illuminated the city, and the technology that ran it. They wanted to ensure that the streets remained clean of any remaining Resistance force, so they created a special force known as the Elite. Who were comprised of trained Marines and loyal ODST's. They were the iron fist that enforced the strict laws the Empire had instated. This force also hunted down any rebel force, who opposed the Emperor, and then of course the Empire. The Empire wanted the Resistance wiped out, knowing that they were the only force able to topple them and bring the people back to the simpler days. The Empire burned all documentation of what the world once was, wanting to ensure that this city was the beginning of life as they knew it. They improved the registry system, numbering each citizen with a bar code and number tattooed on their left wrist at birth. For a while people actually fought this, but their resistance crumbled when the Elite stepped in. People accepted the new world, though there were those who hid in the shadows unable to fully accept. Those who denied the system began to form a Brotherhood friendly group within the city and out in the Barrens. Of course the Elite found out Resistance were in the city and tried hunting them down, they successfully eliminated many of them. They met a new force though, a building Rebellion that was growing strength with each and every passing day with both citizens and rebels combining forces in order to topple the Empire.
☽☾ It is now the year 2575. The world has become a harsh place both inside the city and out in the Barrens. The Empire controls the people, they are the minds and the citizens are their puppets. No one knows the difference anymore, life simply exists. Those who have pledged allegiance to the Brotherhood are hunted, imprisoned, or worse. Everyday usually consists of an open trial on the large digital screens within the city, and those who project into the Barrens. It’s a mocking gesture, ensuring everyone watches the sentence of each traitor. The Elite is made up of ODST's and Marines with the most advanced technology. They are the best at what they do. Trained to hunt the rebels. The Resistance hide and attack in sudden bursts. They are trying to topple the Empire, trying with every person they have among their ranks. They have kept the rebellion alive, hiding within the city and some even out in the Barrens recruiting people to join their cause, people that don’t believe the Empire have the right to control them. Will they topple them? Or will they be found by the Elite and hauled into the bowels of the city to be destroyed?
This story is written in a wheel and spoke system. Much like Halo 3: ODST. So if you get confused I am sorry.

Prologue: Introducing "The Elite"

The Elite were comprised of six members. A leader, His second, The Medic, The Techspert, The Wheelman, and The Invisible One. These people were known very well for being the best of the best at what they did. Every citizen knew to be on their best when they saw anyone of these or even heard their names. They were a strong team that never lost and always came out on top. No one would dare oppose them, except of course the resistance. Let us begin by exploring each of these six individuals to see what the cities best truly were. For understanding them, is to understand half the story.
☽☾The leader
Eddie Fontaine • MALE • 36 • Marine
The hyper lethal, hyper intelligent and overall ruthless leader of the Elite group. Mastering the art of the kill through various years of practice and hands on experience. From the most advanced rifle on the rack to the primal bow and arrow, place it in his hand and Eddie can make bodies drop like flies. His skills beyond combat consisting of parkour, of which he is infamous for scaring his own team mates from time to time with, but of course mainly used to move around swiftly and efficiently. While seemingly physically superior to most, few suspect just how smart he is until to it far too late. A logical thinker and wise, Eddie is often able to read others very carefully, thinking in a hunter's mind set, taking it's prey apart in a systematic fashion, looking at it's habits and other such flaws before acting on them. However, what many fear is his mental health, seen as sadistic and sociopathic at times. Caring little for moral boundaries and often finding joy in the suffering of others. Rebels often fall victim to his cruelty and never live to tell the tale. He brings a strong sense of organization to the team and keeps them in line, unity and stability along with a keen set of leader-esque morale. Why is he leader? He gets the job done, and gets it done right, doesn't let others fall behind and is fairly strict on terms of operational performance.
☽☾The second
Eve • FEMALE • 26 • ODST
She is the strategist. When the boss man needed a plan and a good one at that, she is the one he comes too. If they needed guns, lots of guns she could find them and she could show where they should be used. She looked like nothing less than a prodigy to those beneath her. She had never lost a game of chess in her life and made it a habit to show those around her just how intelligent she could be. Her intuition and ability to read a situation, and person outmatched all that she had met in the natural world.
She could devise a plan to smoke out the rebels, and have another plan to destroy them on the spot. She had win conditions and loss conditions, each with their own subsections to make sure that she always came out on top. It was very often that someone would defy her, and that's exactly what she wanted them to do. Mind games were her specialty and she brought that into her job to eradicate the rebels. It was a job, her emotions on the rebels could vary depending on the situation she was given. Otherwise she was studying those around her to always have the upper hand even in her personal life. The fear of losing drove her to extreme lengths to make sure that such a thing never happened. Which was very bad for those that stood against her.
☽☾The Medic
Gabriel Anthony Ventura • MALE • 31 • Marine
Shot yourself in the foot? No problem. Broke a couple of ribs? No problem. Can’t stop hiccuping and think you’re going to die? No problem. With a sharp mind and quick hands, Gabriel’s known ‘round the metaphorical water cooler as Dr. Frankenstein, the man who can fix anything, even if he can be a bit rough at times. Gabe’s medical knowledge and techniques have no rival on the special Elite force and continues to expand along with new medical discoveries, which he's quick to learn. As great as his skills are, however, combat, especially hand to hand, isn't his forte as he depends on the rest of his team to come through for him during the truly dire situations. Of course, the sight of blood, gore, and disease doesn't faze him one bit.
☽☾The techspert
Angaline Catheri • FEMALE • 22 • ODST
She knows everything about tech in the world; old new even those that have not been released yet. Many come to her for new inventions and if things are broken. She equips the team with their entire tech and make sure it is running properly. She loves the feel of machines under her fingers, the hum of it in her ears. This woman is obsessive and it shows, she is always playing with something, or tinkering with something else. She can create things many think are impossible, she has helped create the city and make it great. She will equip her team with everything they need to keep the city safe, to bring in the rebels who think they can bring her precious city down.

Andy is complicated and seclusive, most people think he just lives in his room and plays car games all day. All they know for sure is that he loves vehicles, he can drive anything at any spread on any terrain and he is very skilled at getting away with said vehicle.
☽☾The Invisible one
Brooklyn Rudek • FEMALE • 25 • Marine
Quiet, that's what Brooklyn did best. Ironically named for what years ago used to be a loud neighborhood, this girl was good at being the exact opposite. What started as an adaptive mechanism has become one of her greatest assets, becoming the eyes and ears of whatever organization she has aligned herself with this time.
You now know the best force again the rebels that is stationed in the city. And their story begins in the early morning, with a simple act. . . of terror.
This story is written in a wheel and spoke system. Much like Halo 3: ODST. I want to get as close to the characters as possible to create a more unified an intimate reading experience. Which means each of the characters is written in first person, past tense. I have color coded them to make it easier on the reader. So if you get confused I am sorry.

Chapter One: The Early Birds...

☽☾ It is the year 2575; the world is a wasteland of ruins, dust, and cracked, parched earth. What lies beyond Hope City has come to be known as the Barrens, an expansion that engulfs the world and holds no light. The true sun has long since gone, volcanic clouds that rain sulfuric ash down upon the land has covered the center of peace and warmth leaving a desolate moody sky. The nights are freezing where the days are rippling with volcanic heat. The City possesses the center source of light, using technology to create an artificial sun that keeps the city running with an internal hum of power. The grid lines structures, casting the city in a glow that keeps the darkness at bay.
The sun was starting to rise above the city; of course within the headquarters of the elite a young woman sitting alone in a room would never know it. Her room was dark, a sick green light shone from several screens. Text swiftly ran down the screens as the young pink haired woman was sitting there staring at them as she typed swiftly as she read. Angeline, the elite’s tech expert was hard at work as always. She looked up from her screens, over her right eye was a screen, it was dark now but normally it would be lit up letting her know what was on her left side. She stretched and cracked her knuckles and began again, this time as she typed images flashed across the screens with the words. She smirked as she watched them flash before her. She finished typing and the screens went blank and the lights came on in the room, it blinded her for a moment and she closed her eyes against the light around her. When she could finally open her eyes again she had to wipe tears from them and look around.
The room was somewhat large, it had no windows and the walls held many different monitors, all touch screen computers she had designed herself, and they all had a different function. To the far side was a large table with different parts and projects laying strewn over it. She looked at them with her head tilted and her lip being chewed on for a moment and walked over to it. She had been working on a new tracking technology, one that could identify rebels by scanning them, it was not nearly finished of course but she was going to get the stupid thing done if it killed her. Heck it just might the way she obsessed about her work. She was constantly playing with something or another. Any new piece of tech she had to take it apart and put it back together, after her own modifications of course. She licked her lip and turned from the table. She touched one of the screens on the wall and it lit up showing the information for the day. The weather came first though she didn’t care much about it, the city was usually warm, though sometimes the weather could be unpredictable. She swiped her hand over the screen and it changed swiftly.
There were so far no missions on the agenda so far, but then again knowing their fearless and slightly insane leader things could change swiftly if her programs got some information on what the rebellion members were up to. The identity of all the members was still unknown but she knew those who were important, at least to her. The one who worried her was their weapons specialist, the guy was good, not as good as she was, being so into tech made things like weapons a sync to her. With that thought though she turned and realized she was bare, she was in a pair of heeled boots, and her battle suit, it was black and sleek, the lights on the suit were dim but if she were in battle it would flare to life. Of course she could have worn other clothes, but she felt better in her suit, it was tech and she felt the hum of life against her skin, kept her obsessive nature down so she didn’t do anything stupid. She looked around and smirked, all her tech was where she left it, sitting over in the corner on the floor. She grabbed her gauntlet and snapped it over her wrist, it read the bar-code on her skin and activated easily, the screen flaring to life and all its info ready for her to access.
She grabbed her M6c, and placed it in its holster and around her waist and shoulders. Her scanners went into her boots and then she headed for the door. She walked from her room and rubbed her eyes. She was a little tired but after scanning everything all night it was to be expected. She had found a little more information but well her scanners could only do so much when the rebellion was hiding so well in the city. She couldn't figure out how they had kept such a low key, heck one of them kept putting up large posters for crying out loud, another defaced public monuments to the emperor, how on earth did they hide something like that. It drove her nuts that they were so under radar, Angeline was going to go into the city, something that she rarely did anymore, and take a look around. She needed some supplies; she needed to get out into the world no matter how much she didn’t really want to. When she had been younger she went on all missions, she outfitted her team first and then went out with them, but when everything went wrong on the last mission she had been damaged and really didn’t go out much anymore.
She ran a hand through her hair and then bound it back into a pony tail. She touched the side where the screen wrapped around her head and it flared to life giving her information of everything around her. No one could sneak up on her, and when out she wouldn't have to worry about her blind side. She had created it soon after she recovered, and now it never left her head. She walked from her room into the hallways and down towards the common room, the walls lit up as she walked, the building was rigged with the highest tech out there, hers of course.
She looked into the common room and rolled her eyes, not a soul seemed to be moving around headquarters. She shrugged and headed for the kitchen, she decided she should eat now before she forgot again. She touched the screen and a list of things to eat and drink popped up, of course everything was synthetic and she didn’t have a clue what the real stuff tasted like but it was good none the less. She punched in a few things and soon an egg and toast breakfast with sausage and coffee was sent out to her. The smell of a warm meal made her stomach knot from hunger. Guess she had waited too long to get out of her room. She had no idea how long she had even been in there for this time. She sat down on the stool and began to eat, the counter where she sat of course was also a computer screen, everything was if you knew how to use it. She ran through orders and also what she was going to be doing for the day. She had finished a new weapon the night before and she wondered how long it would take before Eddie came asking for his.
Presently, the power is being cranked up for the day. The lights will slowly strength and then star diming around the evening hours, marking a sort of time system. Everything runs on technology. Some citizens are returning from night shifts, while others are just waking up. They are milling around, going about their lives while digital screens flicker with advertisements and the morning broadcast from the Empire. The broadcast comes on three times a day, morning, noon, and night. It’s an update and also reinforcement on the strict laws everyone is to follow. Then of course there are the public trials and executions, don’t want to miss that now do we? The Elite are waking up, some may have taken the night patrol but all are having to rise early; they are the city’s main enforcers after all and must keep the peace being worshiped, respected, and feared by the good citizens. The members of the Rebellion are always awake, learning to sleep with one eye open. They are running their own operation, recruiting and spreading their cause. Both sides can feel it in the air, something is coming, but just what side will make the deciding move is the question all are wondering.
As the morning came to give birth to a new day, down in the depths of the Elite's Headquarters, death would slowly advance upon a wary soul. The basement level was reserved for Eddie's use, as requested. The air was moist and murky, the overall room was devoid of any color but grey and poorly lit, only one overhead light for the fairly decent twenty by twelve room. Within sat a man accused of hiding brotherhood rebels inside his home, currently sitting atop a metal chair, his arm and legs bound by steel restraints. His face stained with dry blood, hair a mess, and clothes torn here and there as to show he'd struggled before arriving to this location. His eyes flung ajar at the sound of an old crooning tune. "H-Hello? Who's there?!" This eyes would widen at the sound of boots thudding against the concrete floor and a looming figure coming forth from the shadows and into the narrow light. "Good morning...How'd you sleep? Good? Great...You and I..We're going to have some fun..Well, I am anyway." Eddie cooed, pulling a medical tray over toward the seat. A gloved hand reached out, pulling on the man's upper lip upward as to get a good look at his teeth. He examined them for a moment before turning to the tray. Humming to the song playing at the moment, he picked through various tools until coming across a pair of wire pliers. "Oh...O-oh s**t! NO! Please, God no!" His pleas were soon muffled as Eddie's freehand forced his jaws open, the tool was clamped down into one of the male's canines. [://OMITTED]
A soft chuckle came from Eddie, standing up straight and peering over the tooth he had removed. 'Wooo..Nice..You've got a healthy set here, you know that?' He teased, his guest only replying with a hateful. "Go to hell!" Eddie's face appeared pained at his words, though this was an act, mainly sarcasm. He released the tooth atop the tray before going forward with the torture. Pulling a power drill from a drawer under the tray and revving it a few times. His guest squirmed, too pained to formulate words at this point. Kneeling down, he tapped the man's right knee with his knuckles as to make a knocking sound emit from it. Revving the drill once more, [://OMITTED]Eddie's Glasgow scars were visible and, in-fact, expressed in detail within this lighting. Scores of markings ran up his arms, self inflicted and mission acquired alike shared his flesh. Once he had finished with one knee, he focused his attention on the other. The screams and drill all drowned out as the song played, soon switching to the next track. Raising up from the floor, Eddie neatly stowed the drill away then faced his now hyperventilating partaker. He took his hand, covering the man's mouth, warm crimson oozed between his gloved fingers as he waited for him to calm down.
His eyes began to roll to the back of his head, faint gargling expelled from his throat. Once Eddie took notice, he frantically began slapping the sides of the man's head. "Hey...Hey! Don't you die on me! I'm not done with you yet!" He shouted, cursing under his breath and he shook him about and jabbed whatever he could in a vain attempt to wake him. Soon, the body would go limp, a scowl formed on Eddie's face. This one had been too weak, the shock and alone wouldn't have killed him but he was a bleeder, as-well. Choked on his own fluid, it appeared and fell into shock from the pain. A heavy sigh escaped the Elite's Leader before he stashed the tray away, looking down at his clothes and seeing that they were doused in red. Making his way to the exit, he flipped off the light, opened the door, and closed it before making his way up the staircase. Coming up, he would begin his walk toward his quarters though this meant passing into the Commons Area. he would do so with grace, even if he looked horrible with all the darkened stains on himself and his clothes. His eyes catching the vibrantly wild hair color of their Techi, Angel, as he often called her, head into the kitchen. He didn't mind not saying anything to her as he really wasn't decent for conversation just yet.
Evading any human contact as he shifted into the hallways, Eddie would come into his room, bumping the keypad with his elbow before the automated door slid open with a slight hissing noise. Entering his room, the door shut, he started throwing off pieces of his attire and starting up a quick bath. Nice and hot, he climbed in and went to scrubbing the blood away, being sure to shampoo what little hair he had on his head and to soap up ever nook and cranny he had. Oh man..This was certainly relaxing, Eddie appeared to enjoy it very much, given the recent mission, he was nice to have time like this. But, it would end as he turned the water off and climbed out to dry his soaked body. For his new outfit, he gathered a greyish-black short sleeved, turtle neck under-armour shirt and applied it to his torso. To hide his pride, a set of matching boxer briefs and an ebony pair of cargo pants who's legs were to be stuffed neatly into black combat boots. To cover his hands, another set of obsidian gloves, then a belt to hold his pants up. Finishing off with tying his boot laces, Eddie retreated from his room and made his way back into the Commons Area. He plopped down onto a couch, setting his boots up on the coffee table before reaching back, hands resting on the spine of the couch while his head did so atop his hands. His pale blues scanned around before he allowed them to close.
As the morning progressed the sounds of birds could be heard chirping out in the distance. They weren't real of course, just a faint comfort that played through the speaker system of the city. To relax the citizens and make them feel more at ease. The birds meant something completely different for the rebels. This meant that it was time to finish the job and high tail it back into hiding for the day. They rarely did day jobs as the city's security during the day was too tight. Something was going to happen today, the rebels were out in force. Yet, it was peaceful as the sounds of blue jays played all around.
Lights . . . shined in the vast darkness above. Their dim luminescence radiated through the silence. They lent character to an otherwise impious existence. Their visual static could cling to surface through time itself, in a manner that was most fitting of their splendor. Some would say that they could make out the faces of gods when they saw the lights. Some would also say they could see historical events or people in the lights. In this darkness one would see a battle, it was a fight between the rebellion and a group of elite soldiers. Yes, the lights could match up and make out a very clear ODST face, as well as a marine that seemed to be now a spartan who had abandoned his glamour in favor of his indomitable strength. The Elite, the city's protectors were in their standard formation the lighter infantry swarmed the front of the battle field. Firing their weapons in a very succinct pattern, all of them focusing on the spartan. The sheer power of the grouping of blasts made sure the soldier was down for the count. The light infantry would then peel off to the sides while their heavy infantry had been gaining momentum. With larger weapons and even some melee weapons mixed in, their united blows turned the ice the brotherhood into a broken mess. As the spartan's body struck the ground with a loud thud, there was only silence.
Eve sat up suddenly in silence, which stopped as soon as she was up. Her face had torn up through the lights and was now in the middle of what was obviously a holographic projection. Eve had been sleeping on her projection table again. The projections came from a fine lining around the edges of the large rectangular table. This was nice in the fact that when she laid on it, she would not block out any projections that weren't meant for the flat surface of the table. The woman's eyes fluttered open slowly, well less of fluttering and more like two cement doors being lifted up. She had gone over this same exact battle many times, it was a simulation that she was running to try new battle field tactics. It was all fine and dandy until the enemy had a rocket launcher on the roof nearby. Lifting her hand up Eve touched the spot and the counter offensive troop appeared sporting some rockets. Firing. . . one hundred percent casualties in group A and group B. She then touched behind the elite troops, another small holographic person appeared sporting a sniper rifle. He was hidden behind a dumpster, he was also able to take out the rocket carrying enemy in time. In fact, if positioned instead - Eve touched the image of the sniper and brought him up to a roof. Perfect. A sudden wave of red dots appeared all over the battle area.
Eve swung her legs off of the table blocking out of the image in the process. She hopped down after a long stretch. It was still impossibly dark in the room. She began to walk around the table, the room was familiar to her so she had no problem avoiding bumping into anything. Her quiet and soundless feet carried her over to the light switch on the other side of the room. With a flick of her index finger the lights came on. Like a feral animal. She thought sarcastically at the fact that she still had to do such a thing. The room that she spent most of her hours in was of a decent size, somewhere around the 18' by 24' category. The room apart from size was beautiful, the furnishings were all leather and plush. The floor had a nice rug that really tied the room together. The south wall had a large standing window installed. It was covered with a black decorative vinyl film. The film made wispy shapes and ended in points. The walls apart from sticky notes and pins were black and the ceiling followed the same cue with large fashionable cubes that housed the lights hanging from it. She practically lived in the room, there was an apartment somewhere in the city that she could retreat too if need be. But there was almost no point and she would have to look up the address because she did not remember where the place was. Her office in the elite head quarters was one of the nicer rooms. Considering every one else's professions she was one of the only "clean" ones there. Apart from the sticky notes on the walls the place was sleek and clean. Unlike some of her team members who were dirty animals.
That thought however reminded her of the spartan and of course the entire battle. She looked over to the holographic projection, which was still sporting all of those red pulsating dots. Each dot represented a possible negative outcome that had been stopped by her placing the sniper where and when she did. The program and her mental intuition figured that if the sniper set up an hour prior to the battle that they would be able to win in that scenario with no casualties or surprises. A small grin appeared on the woman's face, it was beautiful. Her silent feet once again carried her back over to the other side of the table, which now visibly held a black leather rolling chair. The chair looked expensive and as she sat down in it, it also felt very expensive. Very comfortable. Which is what Eve enjoyed greatly. To be comfortable when working.
One could probably tell by just looking at her that she was an insomniac. With the dark circles that shadowed her eyes, and her pale white skin she looked more like a model for 'vampires today' than a tactical prodigy. She sat with her knees tucked up to her chest and feet bracing them there at the edge of the chair. Her head rested on her knees as she used her right arm to reach out and pull herself to the projection table. With her work for the past two days done she could now enjoy the luxury of free time while it lasted. Tapping on the glass of the table the projection of the battle faded away and the whole of the surface turned into three separate monitors. She tapped on the middle one and in one short moment a holographic risk board appeared on the flat of the table along with miniature pieces. It looked as if the game had already been in progress. Picking up where she left off Eve reached out and picked up the holographic dice, with a fake shake of her hands she let them fly back down to the board. They clattered and clanked with sound effects that came from a very fancy surround set up in the room. The two white dice read five and four. Not a bad combination for the defensive side. The AI rolled a three, four and a two. So Eve had won that battle of defense and the AI was out of attacking power.
She shifted her gaze over to the left screen, along with her gaze went her left hand tapping the glass twice. She smiled as a chess board appeared in projection with another game that was already in progress. On the right monitor which she took no large amount of time opening up, was a data feed of information on the city. This holographic window was projected upward and sat at a diagonal like a regular monitor. Eve took the attack dice for Risk and tapped on the board an attack from one continent to another, while she shook the dice she looked at the chess board. She let the dice fly again and used her left hand to move a rook to B5. Looking back at the dice Eve let out a small awe of approval. A five, Six, and a three, to the AI's two and three. A small cheer was let out from the speakers along with some digital confetti as the word victory appeared over the board. She had taken the AI's last country. Another cheer was issued as on the left monitor the words check mate shown brightly over the chess board. Eve let her feet down from the chair with a sigh. It was rare that she finished two games at the same time. The board disappeared and the screens went blank as the woman moved to sit sideways in the comfy chair. Her back pressed against one arm and her legs were hung over the opposite arm.
The screen on the right hand side stopped its fast paced scrolling and opened up to a larger view. One data point was showing in a red code line highlighted from the rest. She had been running a search through the city archives and finally found what she had been looking for. She had been tracking all known info that they had on the rebellion, mostly their movements. Unfortunately they were very well hidden. Even the small fry were hidden well, which bothered Eve. Its not like they could hide from her, so what was the bother. She had already helped boss man find a rebellion collaborator recently. Boss man probably found some sort of way to get information out of the poor captive already. Eve always liked when he did that because that gave her and the higher ups material to advertise on the big monitors around the city. Well in certain parts, at certain times. She used it as a herding method, show some rebellion puck sliced up and monitor the movement that took place within the next twenty four hours. Panic instills chaos. Some would call her a freak, or monster for doing such a thing. But if those people had seen her boss they would learn to think with a little more open mindedness. Plus if your dumb enough to get caught, you're weak enough to die.
Still though, Eve tried to keep an open mind. She wasn't a sympathizer with the rebellion by any stretch of the word. But still, part of being a strategist is seeing the different points in a conflict, to get inside your opponents mind. This is what gave way to sympathy, and kept her on her toes every day. Eve's eyes drooped lowly as she thought about such things. But with a small jerk in her chair which squeaked in protest at the quick movement, she reopened her eyes. She stuck her left index finger out to touch the data point. Her finger passed through the light and soon enough her table was a miniature replica of the city. The past few weeks of herding had brought back no success, which was unfortunate because that meant the rebellion could be catching on to her little game. Eve did however have a few areas that had shown great amounts of movement. Those parts of the city were highlighted in red and even had yellow arrows that showed the movement. There were about eight places in the entire city. Eve gave a huff as she stared at the city. She was still stuck regardless of the new data point. There just wasn't enough information for her to formulate any sort of hypothesis. The woman's brow furrowed as she stared and bit her bottom lip with concealed anger. She seemed to be losing this battle, and losing was something that she did not do.
Her bottom lip had begun to bleed before her anger simmered down. So yes, Eve had anger problems. Which she usually let out in her fighting style. Hand to hand combat was her specialty. Not the traditional flashy style of fighting. But the aggressive and deadly kind that only ODST training could give you. She would incapacitate a trained human in less than ten seconds. And depending on the type of soldier she could hold her own. Maybe it just requires a different view? she wondered and promptly began to shift in her seat again. This time she was upside down, her feet sticking up on the back of the chair and her head tilted back on seat looking at the projection of the city upside down. She stayed in the place for a good ten minutes. Nothing was coming of such a move, and she had been starting to feel dizzy. Flipping back down so her rump was set where it was meant to be in the seat, she placed her feet on the ground. The force in her legs pushed the wheeled chair across the room to the other side of the table, Eve let out a small 'whee' as she did so. Now positioned at the other side of the table she continued to scan the city for any sort of connection. Just anything she could sink her teeth into. But once again, another ten minutes of going over the areas she had nothing. Whatever boss man did to her for not having anything for him to go off of today, she would do ten fold her own mental state with anger. Their captives usually didn't last very long. One lasted a week a while ago, which she had written on a whiteboard in the common area as a personal record for their group.
Eve gave a yawn and stood up from the chair with another large stretch. It was time to get out and about. She had no idea what time it was, but for her time really didn't matter unless she was involved in a tactic of some sort. There was a large standing mirror on the wall behind her next to the door. She had placed it there to make sure she was presentable for the day. Because in the times before the mirror she would walk about looking like a train wreck. The woman stood in front of the mirror. She was about five feet and three inches tall. So yeah she was pretty short. Her weight matched her size hovering between one fifteen and one twenty five in any grouping of seven days. Her hair was medium length and a vibrant purple, with smaller darker streaks thrown into the mix. Apart from that the rest of her, her appearance could be classified as the standard cute of that day and age. Not that Eve paid much mind to such things. She hadn't seen the outside world since their last mission. One which did not go as planned, and one of their team members was hurt in the process. It was always an occupational hazard but Eve felt like every time there was a failure it was her fault. Which tied directly into her aggression issues.
She looked over her cloths and shook her head, there was no way she was going out in the old baggy t-shirt and sweatpants. To the east side of the room there was a closet, which held decent amounts of clothing and supplies for her. She stripped down and out of her clothing grabbing a fresh pair of everything. Tossing the rest in the hamper that also sat in the closet. Slipping back into decent clothing Eve had let out a nice and quiet sigh. She was now wearing a pair of black dress socks, cargo pants, and a black satin sleeveless sweatshirt that sported the word 'Elite' on the front across the chest. She grabbed a small bag from within the closet then closed its doors. She walked over to the right side of her office which held a small personal restroom, that she insisted be installed when they first got the building. Eve headed into the restroom and preformed the generally freshening up ritual. When she was finished she walked back out and into the main room of her office, the door closing behind her quietly. She simply left the small bag of items in there for now, she was feeling lazy at that particular moment. Eve walked to her projection table and pulled out a small transparent cube from the corner, it held all of the recent activity and possible location of some resistance members. She would have to give it to boss man. She then moved to the door by the mirror, it was finally time to see what everyone was up to. The door opened and she passed through into the hallway. Down to the left was the common area, and to the right were more offices. She decided food would be nice at that point in time so her feet in the tiny black socks carried her silently to the double wide opening of the commons. Inside she could see two people, who unless they had some electrical equipment to help would not notice her sulk up to the framed hole in the wall.
Her eyes caught boss man laying on the couch and the techy eating something. The smell wafted past her nose and caused her eyes to flutter. Her stomach betrayed her stealth let out a small growl in protest. It had been at least a day since she had eaten, and much longer since she had slept. The woman's face showed that fact as she looked completely drained of energy. She smelt eggs, and meat. Eve was unable to hold herself back any longer, she began the silent and quick movement of going to the food. She was always charismatic around others, she knew for a fact that they could see her. She just liked being quiet, in part that the large man on the couch could probably kick her through their window and into the building opposite of theirs with how tiny she was in comparison, lent a lot to her gaming silence. They were all a team and got a long well, apart from being the best at their jobs they also had a chemistry that was unique in such a diverse group. Eve licked her lips and looked at the images of food until she found french toast. She pressed the button and the synthetic machine went on its way making the bane of her existence. She pressed the button for a synthetic syrup after it was done. Now that she held an amazingly unhealthy pile of food, Eve let out a small sigh and smiled turning around looking at the other two. She took a seat across from her favorite techy.
❝Good. . .❞ Eve looked to the nearest clock. ❝. . .morning❞ She finished with a grin, her voice was soft and light. Even though she knew not of the time, her body seemed to know it was breakfast time. Eve pulled out the small cube and put it on her side of the table. The data she had been going over appeared to go over in text and image form on the screen below her. Eating and working. Working and eating. Story of her life.

Chapter Two: The Late Birds...

Angeline slowly ate, she heard Eddie walk into the room. She rolled her eyes, the man was nuts and they all knew it. She looked at her foot and then eve was there and she smiled at the woman, she looked like she hadn't slept in weeks and Angeline bet she hadn't, they were both alike in that respect. Both workaholics. She finished her meal and sipped her coffee; this stuff kept her going when she went on her binges. “Morning eve girl.” she said as she sipped the coffee, she liked the burn as she closed her eyes and leaned back. She just wanted to rest but she had work to do and she had to get supplies, and since there was a trial today she knew the city would be very uneasy. The people always became a little more paranoid when a trial happened, then again it was the reason their job was easier most of the time. It kept the people quiet and worried that they too would be next. Eva wondered where the rest of the team was, though you rarely saw one of them, she was curious. It was food time and that meant most of them would be coming sniffing around for food soon.
She opened her blue eyes though when something felt wrong, then the alarms sounded, a bright red light flashing through the building. She sighed shaking her head softly. “What now, computer what’s going on.” A woman’s voice flowed through the room to answer her. “There is a disruption at the trial eva, the rebels showed up and saved the one to be destroyed.” She nodded and hit a button at the side of her head right beside her screen. The alarm stopped flashing and information and a recording flashed across the screen showing her what had happened and then rage flashed through her. “He took my bike.” Her voice was cold. You didn't piss off this woman, she made the best weapons imaginable and this guy had pretty much just spit in her face by taking her bike. “Suit up; we have a rebel to fry.” She said over the intercom and then headed for her rooms. She grabbed the new weapons and tossed them on the counter. “The latest in laser tech. it has a heat seeker and everything. Point and shoot people it’s that simple.” And then she turned and headed out the door.
Information flashed on the screen in front of her eye as she moved. The city would be in a panic and so she was going to take her other cycle. It was once one of a kind, but as soon as Eddie had seen the damned thing it had been ordered that the entire team had one. Yes it was cool, like a motorbike but it could top anything. The reason she was so mad about the rebel taking her bike? Because hell it was hers and it was old, a lot older than anything else in the city, she had found it in the barrens long ago and changed it and made it a lot better, now the stupid guy had taken it. She leapt onto the cycle and started it up, slowly it started to rise over the ground and before the others could do anything she was gone, floating over the ground and into the city, she hated the city and now it was worse, the officers, the most non useful people in the world were out in force messing everything up worse than they already had. She floated above the city scanning everyone she spotted, their id’s and everything on them flashed before her good eye as she searched the city.
She growled in frustration as she realized the bastard had gone underground and couldn't be found. She landed beside and officer who gave her a look and then realized who she was. No one else would be allowed to be this well-armed in the city, not even most of the elite members were allowed, but she was given many freedoms others were not. He stood straight and saluted her and she glared. “Where is he? Why have you not recovered the rebel?” the man sputtered trying to find words. “H-he left the city…we can’t track him out there. It was useless, but we have blockades set up, he won’t get back in without us knowing.” “He never should have gotten in, in the first place, nor near that trial.” The man sputtered at that trying to defend himself and his men, Angeline didn't even care to listen, he held her hand up and shot him point blank with her MC9. She pressed the button to open a channel to the others. “We need a clean-up team on destroy street, one of the officers was found guilty of treason by negligence.” People stood and watched her as she turned away from the body and looked around. She needed to find the woman who was meant to be killed that day, they find her and maybe the stupid rebel would come back for her. She jumped and landed back on her cycle and headed back to watch the city from the air. She wanted to make sure she watched everything.
A truly feral growl bellowed from the Elite Leader as he rose from his position on the couch. The intercom had roared about getting ready as there was a rebel to be dealt with, though Eva had used more slang terms of saying it. His bum was last to leave the posh comfort of the cushion and his boots would begin to carry him across the floor, heading in the direction of his quarters. His eyes drooping and mouth partly ajar as he waltzed down the hallway in a not-so rushed manner. A casual stroll to get his things, turning to his door that, once again, hissed it's way open and allowed him to make his way inside. His right hand grasped the nob of the closet, sliding it open as to reveal a rack full of identical black-camo utility vests. He plucked one from the hanger and swiftly pulled it on over his head and down over his upper body. Adjusting it, his pale blues peered over to another section of the closet, left hand reaching in to bring out two push daggers. He sheathed the two on their place in the mid-part of his vest just above the pouches. A second time, he drew a simple combat knife, this was to be stowed on his left shoulder. Finally, he came to bare a fairly large survival knife. It had tasted the blood of many and was somewhat of a favorite of Eddie's. The last articular of clothing lay on his night-stand, an old ballistic mask. A glasgow, like Eddie's, had been carved into the mouth then a V shaped cut was made on top to fit his mohawk neatly.
Snatching it up, he pulled the mask down over his face while the straps held it on tight. Exiting his room, making a slightly quicker pace down the hall, he came just in time to see Eva making her way to the door as to leave. Not mind the new toy at all, Eddie liked all kinds of weapons but he was feeling a bit like running a rebel through. Going a bit medieval on them, as many would call it. Eva had already zoomed out when Eddie made his way outside, cool as the bikes may be, he needed something to really get his blood pumping. He fished an ear-piece from his pocket and placed in into his right ear. This would allow him to keep in contact with everyone. His eyes spotted a good incline across the street, and so, Eddie went to sprinting. He would jump clear over car hoods and weave about flawlessly to avoid getting hit before his boots clamped down on the concrete incline. Using his speed, he traveled up till the edge was met. He'd kick off the ledge and grasp onto a fire escape's railing, hoisting himself up and over as to use the stairs. Going forward, zig zagging the escape all leading to the roof of the building. What a beautiful view he had up here but he still had a bit of the way. His heels dug their way across the surface, carrying him faster and faster the the ledge of the roof, his form leaping to close a gap between the two buildings. Landing on the neighboring establishment, rolling to break his fall and keep from injuring himself but it was right back to running, hoping up when the roll ended.
After navigating the roof-tops for a time, Eddie stopped just a block away from the intended target street, being fed updates through his ear piece. He opened up a channel with Eva as it get more detailed Intel. "Aye, Catheri....Heard about a certain officer needing a trip to the slab...Guessing you're not having a good day...Hahaha..Well, be sure to keep me updated, I trust you better than I do these grunt ******** that stumble around here." Not a big fan of officers either, bunch of knuckle draggers that were only good for kissing asses. Eddie remembered back when he was with the raiders out in the Barrens, people like the officers would have been killed on the spot as they'd only slow them down. Was good to cut off the bad fruits from the tree every now and again, this was why Eddie wasn't currently punishing Eva for her actions. Normally he'd have her reprimanded but he saw no true reason to do so. The team was close, many formalities were kind of thrown out the window but they kept a professional posture about them. Eddie figured rebels saw them as a highly skilled kill team, but he liked to think more of his comrades than just that.
He made his way down the side of the building, using the window seals and any features of the walling to make his way down to the sidewalk. Many civilians avoided him, officers saluted out of fear rather than respect for the giant but he payed them little mind since he had more important things to be doing. His current guess was that the Rebel had escaped, likely in a hideout since the city was on alert, would be too hot to up and try to leave or likely kept close to the border of the Barrens and the city, couldn't be too sure just yet.
Eve continued to eat when Angeline nodded her greeting back. Their faithful and quiet talented tech geek was quite like herself. They tended to get a small amount of sleep. Sometimes she would catch Angeline working in her office late at night. Most of the time it was upgrades to current tech it seemed. But when she really stayed up late the woman had a new toy to show off in the morning. Eve smiled at that thought. It was always nice to see someone who loved their work and was good at what they did. Most of the tech, in fact Eve would caution to say all of the tech in this building and most other buildings was partially of Angeline's design. Which to her was impressive and a end point for most peoples careers. But their beloved tech geek just kept working away on new and amazing things. Truly innovating the technology they had. She was like Rembrandt with tech. Eve was a little biased on her views of Angeline though, who wouldn't love the woman who gave them a huge table that lit up and could help one evil master mind take over the world. Eve couldn't think of anyone who wouldn't be eternally grateful. With that being said the woman, much like Eve did have a sore spot. You didn't want to make either of them mad.
Eve continued to eat and look over the data as her mind parsed through it all, she desperately wanted to find something. She needed to be of use somehow and get the information they needed to finally find a lead on the resistance, it was starting to make her angry again. And speaking of people not to make mad, boss man gave a small huff as he laid on the couch. Eddie Fontaine, or boss man to her was one of the most effective and ineffective man of power of all time. He lead with smarts and strength, he also governed the public the same way when he had to. In fact Eve had learned much of her fighting style from boss man. She had admired his ways when they were useful. Unfortunately he did not seem to feel the same way. Whether or not it was useful he could be brutal, it was his moral faults that often got him into trouble and Eve watched it happen. She wouldn't dare tell him such a thing, she just smiled and remained the chipper little second in command at his side. Boss man was great despite obvious moral issues, he did his job, and treated his team with respect. Most men with such a disposition were up front about it and dirty. Boss man was clean most of the time and acted like an Uncle to them. What more could they ask for? She might have had a minor case of hero worship.
Eve had been barely halfway done with her breakfast when the alarm sounded and everyone started moving, it seemed that they were deemed important enough. Someone, or something had interrupted today's trial. She watched as Evangeline and slowly but surely boss man left the room into action. Eve however did not follow the frantic rush. She was not part of the first contact response team. It was her job to remain resolute and go over the Intel to feed information to the rest of the group. Finishing her breakfast Eve took the small glass cube off of the table and the monitors turned off. She went and cleaned off her plate and put it back on the clean stack, she also did the same with Angeline's glassware. A small tingle crawled up her spine as she felt the rush of adrenaline course into her veins. With a grin she spun around energetically and began the small sprint back to her room. Grabbing the door frame with a slip and a slide around the corner into the hallway Eve giggled. Her sudden rush of energy was due partly to her sleep deprived brain. She was moving silently and fast down the hallway, it was only right before the door that she realized it would not open in time for her and Eve leaned back sliding the rest of the way. There would be a soft 'thump' as the woman fell on her rump in front of the now opening door. If she was younger one would swear that she was about to cry. But Eve simply stood up and walked in her room, with all the grace of a peacock. No one was watching, her but Eve had to hold up her dignity.
Now back in her room Eve placed the glass cube back in its slot on her projection table. She began to type on the glass, as she did the left screen popped up with news feeds. She continued her insanely fast typing and security camera feeds eventually popped up on the middle screen. Not even being close to done Eve typed away until the right screen had her current data on events around the city. She listened to reports as she watched the middle monitors security feeds. The squeak of wheels echoed through the room as she pulled her comfy chair up and sat down in it. Her feet back on the edge of the front of the chair and chin resting on her knees Eve was back in the game. According to the news feeds some brotherhood sympathizer had gone and ruined today's entertainment by removing the woman to be executed. The woman . . . Eve brought up data on the trial, the woman went by the title of Kat, she was to be executed for aiding the rebellion today less than an hour ago. When the rebel came to her rescue. Eve brought up more data on the officials guarding the event. It seemed as if one of the police was duped out of his scanner and knocked out. She already knew his fate would be worse than simply being fired. That just how the justice in this city worked when it was dealing with the rebellion.
So the man ran from the place with his friend, they were both last seen in an alley way. When there were also reports of a stolen bike, it was one of Angeline's. Eve sighed, knowing that the woman would be pissed off, which was not a good way to work. None the less she continued to scan the data and read what information they did have on the events. Eve grabbed the data from the events at the trial to the alley. She separated it from the data on the bike. The events at the trial gave way to another red area on her map and the alley was marked as a directional point with a yellow arrow. This gave the map of points some clarity but not enough for her to do anything with once again. A low and guttural growl rumbled from her chest and up her throat. It was really starting to pick at her nerves that she couldn't find anything. There was a loud slam as Eve threw her feet to the floor and leaned in closer to the monitors. She began to look over the data on the stolen bike, it was kept on the street and was taken towards the barrens. Their bikes did have tracing systems. Well Eve just knew the model and was able to take screen shots on the cities surveillance cameras.
Eve began to devise her plan, she noted the exact point in which the bike went off of the cities scanners. Luckily they did not go off of hers. She had a general direction. And given the points following the bikes path she knew the culprit had to be in the barrens. Which meant that somewhere out there was a point of interest. Maybe that place would be the key to her riddle of a map. Or maybe it would be another blank point. All Eve knew is that it was progress, she would head out and retrieve the bike and return with what data she had on the surrounding area. Eve did not often do field work, but when she did it was important. She could not lose this one, if there was any sort of divine being he would make sure she found what she needed. Eve continued to look over the data for a few moments more to see if she missed anything. When she was done she began to type up a storm again. She would leave a note and some data behind for boss man to follow up on. She knew he would be busy with his field work to be bothered with her stupid hypothesis at the moment. So Eve found a solution, taking the small glass cube out of its spot again tossing it in the air. Soft footsteps accompanied her movement to the closet.
Eve's mind was racing with information, but also with a plan. It was her job to make sure they were efficient and that they had the upper hand. Cloths and electronics spilled out onto the floor as Eve rummaged through everything until finally she pulled out an inconspicuous knapsack. She placed the glass cube inside along with a small jump drive. She closed the sack and tied it thrice around. Then she continued to dig, dig, dig and dig. She had forgotten all of her gear was at the bottom of everything in her closet. She hardly used it after all so why let it get in the way of every day business. She pulled out a mask that looked like a gas mask only more flat. She also pulled out an armored vest that was a dull grey. The items that followed were armored leg pieces, arm pieces, a weighted hood, some combat boots and an old looking gun. Her office now looked like a teenagers room with clothes and electronics strewn all about. Eve gave a small huff as she pulled out the last item she wanted, it was a metal case that had the words 'first aid' written on the front and back. All of the items clanked and clinked as she separated them from the rest of the room. She sat in the middle of all of her armor and reached for the first aid box. It was heavy and one would think as to why. . .
Out of the metal case Eve pulled a giant trigger syringe. Her pant leg ruffled as she pulled it up and found the spot she was looking for. Over the next few minutes in the hallways all one could hear would be cursing and shouting. Eve threw the syringe back into its case with an exasperated sigh. She then removed her soft and fancy satin sweater and put on her lightly armored chest plate and shirt. She did the same with her pants kicking them off carefully as to not bump the now sore right leg. Eve laid back on the cold ground and looked up at the ceiling. This was her favorite part of the job, taking action and solving a problem. She lived for the high of winning and knowing that it was her. It certainly was all that she strove for, it had gotten to the point that she could no longer live without the rush. Like a drug that had addled her mind into nothing but raw power and instinct. She would get this one, over and over again she told herself that. But now was the time for action, she lifted her head up off of the cold ground and sat up grabbing the old gun, her mask and the weighted hood. She put the mask on followed by the hood, and her boots. The old gun was sufficiently holstered on her belt. Eve looked like she belonged in the barrens, because that's where she was headed.
Eve stood up and walked out of her room with the knapsack, her small pad of a phone and of course her keys. One wouldn't think that the small charismatic girl who fell on her a** outside of the door would come could fully decked. But they would be duly surprised. Eve was the second, for many reasons. The thudding of heavy boots echoed down the hallway as she walked to Boss Man's room and left the knapsack in front of his door. Eve then took an ear piece out of her pocket and placed it in her ear to listen in on what everyone else was doing. She did not talk though, just listened. She had no pertinent information so she left the channel clean of her nonsensical hypothesis. It seemed as if the culprits had gotten away. Which was both good and bad for Eve. She had a chance at following up on the crime, but it also looked horribly bad on the Elite's part for having such a thing happen in their city at their trial. In fact she was sure there would be a lot of press on whether or not the elite could really protect the normal citizens of this city from the rebellion. But then again Eve was positive that they could find some sort of rebuttal to this. Maybe the others would be able to find the one doomed for execution and put her in her place. Gruesome it was but appearances could mean everything when the scale was live and in motion.
Eve walked away from the door and left to exit the building. She was debating whether or not to take one of the bikes or not, and decided to take one. Time was always against her and she needed to follow up on this fast. So without a second thought Eve made her way down to the basement and jumped on her bike. Which was only there thanks to the wonderful Angeline courtesy of boss mans nagging her about it. Eve turned the contraption on and zipped out of the building. She used her phone to navigate the points of interest she had found from the cameras. It was through alleys and some side streets, who ever this rebel was he seemed to know how to ride a bike. A very unique elite bike at that, he must have had prior experience with their tech. This deduction and thought made Eve fell uneasy. She didn't like it when she enemy knew so much about their equipment. The scale in her mind tipped more towards balanced then she really liked. The bike she was riding was silent enough it still used air so it sounded like a fan was always on. A very hot and powerful fan. She continued along the route she had mapped out looking around at the people. The wonderful citizens and the filth all mixed together in this melting pot of a city. She wanted to help all of them. But there was not enough time in the world to help this city. Only enough to change the direction it was headed. For the better or for the worst.
The bike slowed down to a halt as she reached the point in which the bike went off the radar. The edge of the city, Eve looks around for their bike but could not see it. She let out a small laugh, of course the bike was left out in the barrens somewhere. That made it much harder to locate. But thanks to the speed and direction that the bike was last pinged going Eve had at least a good area she could check. She parked the bike like a civil human being and walked to the edge of the city. Taking in a deep breath Eve looked up at the sky. The sun was shining, no sign of rain. Today was a good day for a hunt. She took her first step out into the barrens and just kept walking. She had the general direction down, now all that was left was to blend in and look for the bike. Eve's mask held a scanner that scanned her field of vision for any life forms and and technology. The dust of the barrens was depressing, in fact the entire field was depressing as all hell. She tried to focus on the data that she had memorized and continued to do work in her head as she mindlessly walked forward for god knows how long. It seemed like an eternity to her patience. But she finally saw a ping of technology ahead and to the east. . .
Sleep. It was something Brooklyn greatly enjoyed, not a rarity but not luxury either. It was perfect. Of course, she wasn't sleeping now, no, that would be perfect - and perfect never happens. Instead it was somewhere after nine a.m. and the female was riding back to her place of employment, and residence. Headquarters. What a name, the place in which you'd think everyone was using their minds. Brooklyn found this to hardly be the case, instead, most of the organization for which she worked was violence first, questions later, and thinking last, if at all. It was hardly her cup of tea, but her objective was not to correct the system under which she worked, simply to keep herself alive. She merely wanted to be well nourished and well rested for all of her days, no more no less. If anything, she seemed like the pet of the facility, only coming out and socializing during meal times and answering the occasional question as she came or went. Granted, she was present for the debriefing that would always occur before a mission, though she hardly said anything unless it pertained to her role.
Her role. The Ghost, The Invisible One. All of her life's experience was embodied in her role within her organization, the ability to be silent and pleasant were her assets. However, even those words were too strong, she was unnoticed and she enjoyed it, reveled in it really. Her last job was the one from which she was coming back, the need for her sneaking skills a stark contrast to the revving of the motorcycle that she was currently riding, a flashy thing at that. It was black and blue, catching the sun and reflecting it back into the eyes of any unlucky enough to stare directly at the bike. It was a gift from the boss, though she repainted it to match her better, to be more eye-catching than the original model. It was her bit of indulgence, bit of irony even, since she spent all of her time being unassuming. In fact, for her last mission, she had approached the facility in a silver vehicle, nothing fancy, a few models too old to be new. It was a simple mission, go in, plant some recording devices, get out. It went swimmingly. Brooklyn smiled briefly at how easy it had went, an easy mission meaning she would get to sleep. Sleep the entire day away.
That being said, she was hardly pleased to find that upon stepping into headquarters there was noise. Lots of it. "Mission, great." She thought silently, greatly displeased. Her eyes did not belie her feelings though, they were simply watching as her comrades discussed what had occurred. Yelled would be more accurate, she realized, watching Eddie grumble and Angeline going into 'shoot them all' mode. It was no surprise where Brooklyn's assessment of the groups lack of thinking came. However, she was part of the group that was off to get the 'bad guy,' and so she turned around after stepping into the room and headed for the garage.
A barrage of vehicles were present, but she went for something from her section, all of the modes of transportation that would go unnoticed. This time she picked a red car, the color duller than scarlet, slightly reminiscent of blood, and got behind the wheel. There was no rush for Brooklyn, rushing only made you noticeable, easy to catch. Her job, unassigned but implied, was to see what might be discerned from simply scouting at the area. Pulling out of the garage she made her way to the scene, a good while after Eddie and Angeline. She noticed the terrified officer and the angry teammates, nothing of which she could use to gain any insight into what happened.
"What did he tell you two?" she asked, her voice monotonous and coming from behind the two heading the investigation/manhunt.
