Anyone can put something in their signature. People wanna feel like they have earned something, as is the purpose of Awards.

The nice usergroup image designating your rank should be enough for their rank. Why have redundant awards? We already have enough redundancy IMO.

Battle night accomplishments should remain army-specific, I think. Simply having a thread in the army forums listing the names of everyone with specific awards would be sufficient for that.
