The beta has been pushed back to summer 2014 as well.

Just like all of the great games this year, they're launching Destiny during school season so I won't be able to spend over 9000 hours in it.

All their promotional pieces said "Become Legend Spring 2014". So it basically got delayed/pushed back. I'm wanting to blame Activision for not allowing Bungie to release it during the summer (which is when I'd assume they were pushing it back to originally).

Also, the Bungie forums are ablaze right now with this delay/switch-e-roo.

I am rather happy about this news, more time for them to make a better game.

This makes no sense, of anything Activision would be pushing them to release it as soon as possible and putting deadlines on the company but this shows that they are giving Bungie enough leeway to do there own thing and say for themselves when the game will be done, which is a great sign that Activision is giving Bungie a large amount of developer independence which is what Bungie always wanted.
