Xbox Live-Connection Issue

Usually I have a decent connection over Xbox live. The past couple of days, I have been joining Xbox live parties and randomly get disconnected and rejoin right away.

I have also been having trouble staying connected in Halo matchmaking games. It disconnects me and in the party I was apart of.

I tried restarting my wireless router and changing Ethernet cables. (Nothing seems to improve it)

I had the router for about 2 1/2 years now, maybe its time for a replacement?

I'm just looking for some guidance or some techy advice. Its starting to get extemly irritating, its happening more often, I can't even stay in a simple Xbox love party without being disconnected after a few minutes. Keep in mind, I usually never get fully disconnected from Xbox live, although that does occur at times.

Connectivity is determined by connection strength, and connection stability. You have a strong connection, but sporadic connectivity. A new router MIGHT fix the problem, but most of that is determined by ISP and location in general.

Could also be the weather conditions. Lots of snow and ice affecting cables outside.

Get a very good router that guarantees stable connection. If that doesn't fix it, then it's your provider. Unfortunately, there isn't much more than that. It's either one, or the other, and there's on diagnostic tool that can give you a 100% correct answer.

Idk if this helps... but just played a 15min custom game ans went to black screen 15 times but never disconnected from Xbox live.

Could be either one of the issues. If the connection isn't strong, then you will lag behind the server (AKA, the host). If your connectivity is low, then you'll lag behind because your unstable connection isn't getting consistent packets from the host.


No way to diagnose it without a router change.
