I think that making the new members go through the forum is a good way to make sure that members are actually willing to take the extra 3 min to join. This is a way to make sure people are actually willing to join and participate.

There's a giant button that says "JOIN BLUE/REDD HERE!" on the front page.
If they cant figure out how to post and/or fill out a registration template, that's so damn standard even we can't change that.

I have to agree with anarchy here, as a recruiter I know that we have people that can walk you trough the proses of enlistment. if they cant figure it out.
