i did this last year. it's... eh. i appreciate being able to work in an english environment, but leaving behind friends and family sucks. i'm moving back later in the spring (when i'll probably have time for fc again!) but then, i was never good at knowing where to go to meet like-minded people, so i haven't really had any friends to hang with for a year or so.
Dude, you're from Australia. Everyone knows people in Australia all live in small settlements in deserts.
I also don't see 100,000 as a small number. I live in a town that I recently found out has 11,000 people in it. I thought 11,000 was a lot when I heard it, but apparently not. What I'd like to know is why you'd have a problem with a smaller town. Easier driving. If you accidentally drive onto the sidewalk, you'll only take out 2 people instead of 20.
I've actually never thought about living in a bigger city. That might be interesting.
