FC Update 6.2

Thirty-Nine Days...

<Silence> and Recap

You know, it's been over a month since the last FC Update. Sorry about that, but hopefully this makes up for it.

The last Update was focused around trying to get the community involved in making some promotional videos. Unlucky's working on a HC Battle video (which I'm sure everyone is looking forward to... right!?), and I've got a new capture card myself, but other than that not much has happened.

So, consider this a quick reminder. Read the details in the last update and see if you can get involved. Feel free to bug anyone else that has a capture card and get them to make a promotional video. If we're able to get one or two up and out before Halo 4's release, that'd definitely help recruitment.

And then once Halo 4 is out and we're preparing for the first war, we'll start working on Halo 4-themed promotional videos to hype everyone up for that first war (which will be epic).

Revolutions Chronicles

Hopefully you guys have been following theses (if not, click above and come back in a half-hour) and have enjoyed them. They're quite nostalgic, indeed.

For those living in a cardboard box (yes, I'm talking to you), the Revolutions Chronicles features some of the most important, intense, or pivotal games and battles throughout the Revolutions era of the community (that means throughout Halo: Reach).

At this point, everything's been from the 1st War (aka Beta War). That's because I'm doing them in chronological order, and I'm trying to add in a bit of how the war was looking at that point. After the First War (which will have about 6 or 7 total) we'll move on to the Second War, etc.

If anyone has recommendations that I should use a specific game, let me know. Also, if anyone has ideas to improve the release quality, feel free to speak up. I want to make these as entertaining and enjoyable to watch as possible.

Revolutions Chronicles #03 will be released later tonight, by the way.

Legacy Series

This is yet another video series that I'm about to start. Except instead of videos throughout the Revolutions era (Halo: Reach), I'll instead be featuring games from Halo 3 (FC era, FC: Origins era, and FC: Reborn era).

I've already got a few amazing games. But I need more. I don't have nearly enough for a full series. I know that we've still got a lot of people who were from the Halo 3 wars, and I want to get any FC game films that you might have saved from those wars.

So, if you happen to have some, (1) let me know that you have some, (2) upload them to your fileshare, (3) let me know the date that it happened, and (4) tell me what teams were playing (if you can remember).

At this point, I've got about 5-6 good games, ranging from FC2 (2008) to the end of the FC:R War (2010). I'd like more, so please pop back in Halo 3 and check to see if you've got a few games!

The first of this series will be released early next week.

That Virtual Money

So it's been said many, many times about what we're doing to the vCash system.

Well, first of all I'll say that we're doing a lot.

I can't explain all the little details, though (since it's not set in stone yet), but I can give a few details of WHY we're changing things. This is an excerpt of what I said to the War Council:

First of all, our current vCash system and such is effectively “broken” as I see it. It worked for the Beta War, when it was introduced, because nobody had enough vCash to purchase any cR (throughout the entire war, I was the only one to ever buy one, and it was like right at the end of the war).

Since then, though, people have built up so much vCash that the gap between rich and poor is insane. In order to allow newer members to have a chance to help their army out by buying cR, we have to make cR cheap. Conversely, in order to prevent an army from getting a huge advantage over the other army by getting massive donations from rich members, we were forced to have a vCash limit per week.

It was a stop-gap, but it hasn’t fixed the problem of the rich-poor gap.

So then, what are we going to do to try to improve it? Multiple things:

Change how betting is handled (primarily the odds of events).
More ways to earn vCash! (I've got a whole list of them!)
More ways to spend vCash! (I want more ideas, though, so make suggestions!)
Improved way to give out vCash (easier for you, easier for us)

OH CRAP, I FORGOT:

Congratulations to lloydfam7 and Fuzzy for receiving Medal of Honor awards!

They received these like last month, but never got the public announcement they deserved. Their names will also be displayed on the home page until H4's release, and will receive a reward of vCash (once the new vCash system is set up).
