Beta War Thus Far

So far, we've had two battles in this Beta War, and have tested out a great many things. I'm very glad to did this Beta War, because otherwise I think the First War wouldn't turn out as well as it's going to now.

We are going to be able to get pretty much everyone set up and ready to go before the war. We'll have all of the default maps already forged into what we want (or at least partially done), and also have a set of gametypes that we already know work really well.

We've been getting some great feedback so far, and hopefully you all continue to help us fix the broken things. I'm still trying to come up with an improved ordnance system, so I'm definitely open to suggestions about that.

I'd like to quickly remind everyone that this is indeed a Beta War. That means, as has been announced multiple times already, winning isn't what takes top priority. You are all still encouraged to be competitive and try your best, but also don't be disheartened if you lose a couple games.

Map imbalances, gametype imperfections, mishaps while setting up the battles, and more problems are all expected to happen a few times, so be sure to scream at us when they do happen so we can fix them.

Another battle is happening this Sunday, December 2nd, at 6:00 PM EST. We'll be facing off on Relay and Settler. Check the Attack Plans for details.

New Banner for December

Mededust (you know, that guy that does pretty much all the images for the website) has done a fantastic job yet again.

Transitioning from autumn, we now begin the winter season. Snow, snowflakes, Christmas, snow, Santa, and a bit of snow.

Apparently, he also hid an easter egg in it, but personally I think he's just trolling us. Anyway, the first 3 to fill out an vCash Bonus application using the following will get 1,000 vCash after the new system is implemented at the end of this week:

Battle Films

During battles, always remember to save your film of the game afterward. This is important for a variety of reasons, some being that if you got teabagged, want to report something that happened during a game, etc., we will want video evidence.

However, even if none of that happened and it was a close, intense, well-fought game where both teams had fun and the score was neck-and-neck, we will still want it, but for a different reason.

Save your film and give it to us, and you could get it featured on our official YouTube channel, and earn a bit of vCash on the side! Check out the Battle Films thread for details!

We already uploaded one such film, featuring game 5 of Ragnarok from the first battle, a close game of Oddbomb between Cyberdyne and Rogue Squadron, from the perspective of The Jam Cliche. Check it out here.

And to make things even better, we're going to start doing commentaries over these to help them be all the more entertaining. If you'd like to help out with commentating (some will be single commentaries, others dual or even triple commentaries), let me know. Otherwise, just keep saving those films and posting about them in the Battle Films thread!

For us college kids, finals are upon us. Metkil and I both happen to fall under this group. Afterward, we've got a nice break under January when the new semester starts.

And that means time to do more website stuff!

So give us all your ideas for spicing up the website. We've got some plans already, but we want some more things to pile on top of them, so head on over to Metkil's thread and give us more jobs to do.
